I’m a Hungarian fulltime bead jewelry designer and teacher who lives in Austria. Originally a leatherworker, I stitched my fi rst jewelry in 2007 and I’ve been a beading addict ever since. MAKE A STATEMENT WITH CZECH GLASS Stitch and join eight small components to create dimensional earrings with Matubo GEMDUOs, CzechMates® Diamonds, and TOHO® Rounds.

INSTRUCTIONS 1. Component: a) On 2 1/2’ of thread, add E, A; repeat

three times, leaving a 5" tail. Form a ring and tie a knot against the tail. Pass through the first E added.

b) Add two C; pass through the open (outside) hole of the next A. Add two C; pass through the next E. Repeat Step 1b three times. Pass through the first two C and the outside hole of the first A.

2. Note: Add all B with the faceted side faceup. Use tight tension and make sure the C and E of Step 1 sit on top of the B; the A will dome. Add B-Right and pass through the outside hole of the next A; repeat three times. Pass through the first B-Right added.

3. Flip the beadwork facedown. Note: Pass through the same (inside) holes of the B used in Step 2 and add the F on top of the A. Add F and pass through the next B; repeat three times. Pass through the first F added.

4. Add four D; pass through the open (outside) hole of the next B. Add four D; pass through the next F. Repeat this step three times. Pass through the first four D added.

5. Flip the beadwork faceup. Add E, F, E; pass through the next three D. Add F; skip over the next D, F, D and pass through the next three D. Repeat this step three times. Pass through the first E, F. Tie off both threads. Set aside.

Repeat Steps 1–5 twice. Repeat Steps 1–5 again, using1 1/2 yd of thread and trimming only the tail thread.

6. a) Center Join: Continuing with the working thread from the final component, add D, then pass through a corner F of another component; repeat three times to join all four components faceup. Weave through to exit the next F of Step 5 on the side of a component.

b) Side Joins: Add E, then pass through the mirror F on the nearest component; repeat. Weave through to repeat Step 6b three times to join the remaining inside F. Weave through to exit an outside F of Step 5, toward a corner (not shown).

c) Edging: Working along the outside edge, add three D; pass through the next corner E, F, E. Add three D; pass through the next F. Add three D; pass through the next E, F. Add D; pass through the next F, E. Add three D; pass through the next F.

Pay a�ention to which holes to use when adding or passing

through GEMDUOs and Diamonds.

Repeat Step 6c three times and pass through the first three D.

d) Earwire: Add D, G, D, B-Left, D, G, D, ear wire, D, G, D; pass back through B-Right. Add D, G, D; skip over E, F, E and pass through the next D of Step 6c. Repeat the thread path of Step 6d for strength (not shown). Tie off.

Repeat all steps to create a second earring.
