  • BIBLIOGRAPHY

Below are three categories of references: Recent (1975 and up to the present), Earlier (1970 - 197A) and miscellaneous. These references were retrieved from the same Computer Bibliographic Search Services that were used in the first newsletter plus from other literature which came across my desk. The latest Search update was done on May 8th, 1978. This bibliography does not include any of the references listed in the bibliography of Elephant Newsletter No. 1. As a rule, we list extant species of elephant, but occasionally, a reference on fossil Proboscidea appears; it is designated by an asterisk (*). In the references that were requested from the computer, the word elephant may or may not be a part of the title, even though elephant(s) are mentioned one way or another in the article. We cannot honor requests for reprints of articles listed in this bibliography. For future reference and convenience, references below are consecutively numbered from 58-387. References 1-57 are included in Elephant Newsletter No. 1; they are not numbered but counted. Future references will continue to be numbered.
