Abstract
The present study Online Information Review: Bibliometric Analysis has
been undertaken for the period of five years (2010 to 2014). In the present
study an attempt has been made to analyze the year wise distribution of
articles, find out the issue wise distribution of articles, authorship pattern of
Journal articles, year wise degree of collaboration, institute-wise distribution
of papers, geographical distribution of articles author also ranking of leading
contributors in the articles
Keywords: Bibliometric Analysis, Authorship Pattern, Degree of
Collaboration, Journal, Online Information Review
1.0. Introduction:
In present study researcher choose the India‘s most leading journal in the subject of
Library and Information science and it is a branch of Social Sciences that studies the
study of the organization and administration of a library and of its technical,
informational, and reference services. The Quantitative study of science has been done by
Bibliometric analysis. The major indicator of scientific progress is the distribution of
publication over the period, country wise contribution, collaboration pattern among the
scientists, national and international collaborations etc. (Vijayalaxmi & Ambuja, 2013)
In Library and Information Science, the Bibliometric study is one of the important thrust
areas to do Research. (Manivannan & Sanjeevi, 2012) Researchers use Bibliometric
methods of evaluation to determine the influence of a single author or to describe the
relationship between two or more authors or works. Bibliometric Analysis is the
quantitative description of literature and helps in the measurement of the pattern of all
form of recorded information and their procedures hence researcher choose the present
study.

1.1. About the Journal:
Online Information Review is an international, double blind peer-reviewed, ISI-listed
journal devoted to research in the broad field of online information in academic,
government, corporate, scientific and commercial contexts It includes full length papers,
short notes, rapid communications and short reviews on Contemporary research.
Within this broad framework the journal seeks to provide a forum for experts from a
range of information-related disciplines, including information science, information
technology, information management, knowledge management and related social
sciences. It also includes regular viewpoint pieces, currently focusing on metrics for
research evaluation and on social media research
1.2. Bibliometric Analysis:
Bibliometrics is the application of statistical and mathematical methods to books and
other communication (Pritchard, 1969). Bibliometrics is type of research method used in
Library and Information sciences. It is an emerging area of research in the LIS field. The
quantitative analysis and statistics to describe patterns of publication with within a given
field of body of literature are utilized. (George, 2012) Bibliometric term introduced by
Alan Pritchard in 1969 (Jena, 2006)
2. Review of Literature:
The Review of related literature is a significant and primary component in any research
investigations. It was found that the studies on Bibliometrics in India have covered
several studies on journals,Shelke,S.M & Khaparde V.S. Jena, K. L. (2006); George, K.
(2012); Manivannan, G., & Sanjeevi, K.(2012); Thanuskodi (2012); Gopalakrishnan, S.
& Ashok Kumar, L. (2013); Kavitha, T. (2013); Vijayalaxmi, S., & Ambuja, R. (2013)
.However no studies on the Bibliometric Analysis of Online Information Review (2010-
2014) have been covered, hence present research has been done
3. Objectives:
The present study has been undertaken with the objective of analyzing the following
aspects:
1) Year wise distribution of articles;
2) Issue wise distribution of articles;
3) Authorship pattern of Journal articles;
4) Year wise degree of collaboration;
5) Institute-wise distribution of papers;
6) Type of Affiliation of contributing institutions;
7) Geographical distribution of articles;
8) Evolution of the total number of citations and journal's self-citations
9) Ranking of leading contributors

4. Methodology
It is a vast collection of Journals and Research Publications, providing all the required
bibliographical data such as name of the author(s), title, and source of documents, year of
publication, volume of publication, issue number, and article type were collected and is
recorded on a MS excel sheet with pre-designed columns. The data so collected were
tabulated and analyzed in order to obtain results in respect of the stated objectives.
5. Scope and limitation of the study:
In Present research 5 volumes containing 31 issues appended to 246 articles of the Online
Information Review during the year 2010-2014 have been taken up for the study
6. Analysis:
Researcher analyze all the details of Online Information Review, such as issue numbers,
name of authors, address of authors, year of publication, Pagination, institutional
affiliation etc. of all articles published from 2010 to 2014 were recorded for the following
analysis

In ―The Online Information Review‖ total no of 246 research papers published during the
period of study i.e. from 2010 to 2014. The journal on an average has published 49
research papers per year. The above table shows that the maximum numbers of articles
were published in the year 2010 & 2014 with 51 articles and minimum in the year 2013
with 46 articles. The number of research publications of The Online Information Review
for the period 2010-2014 has been given year wise in table-1.

Multiauthorship provides different measures of collaboration in the subject. Table no. 3
reveals the authorship pattern of the articles published during the period of study.
Maximum numbers of articles were contributed by two authors75 (30.49%). This is
followed by three authors with 71 (28.86%) articles; one authors contributed 61 articles
(24.80 %) of the total articles. four authors contributed 28 articles (11.38%), five authors
contributed 7 articles (2.84%) out of total articles and more than five authors contributed
4 articles (1.63%)
6.4. Degree of Collaboration in The Online Information Review
The formula given by K. Subramanian is useful for determining the degree of
collaboration in quantitative terms. The study followed the same formula which is
mathematically put as
NM
C = --------
NM+NS
Where C = Degree of Collaboration
NM = Number of Multi authored Papers
NS = Number of Single authored Papers
In the Present Study:
NM =185
NS = 61
246
C= ------- = 0.75
185+61
Thus the degree of collaboration (C) during the overall 05 years (2010-2014) is 0.75
