Love at f irst sight .It’ll capture your heart as it steals your breath away. Rugged lava coastlines are caressed by an ocean of blue. Snow-capped mountains reach for a clear blue sky. Lush rainforests are as soft as a lover’s kiss. On this island where the earth is young, romance is as inevitable as the rising and setting of the sun, and each blessed day and night are yours to hold in your heart forever.

Untamed beauty. The largest of all Hawaiian Islands, the Island of Hawai‘i is still growing in size. It’s here that Pele, the Hawaiian Goddess of Fire pours molten lava onto the landscape. It’s also home to Mauna Kea, the world’s tallest mountain as measured from the ocean floor. On the Island of Hawai‘i, you can scuba dive with manta rays, take romantic strolls along a white or black sand beach, or explore the snow-capped Mauna Kea summit where stars sparkle like glitter in a cloudless night sky.

Civil ized pleasures.Amidst nature’s sprawling canvas you’ll also discover jewels made by man. Exquisite resorts dot the Western coast of the island. Champagne is shared on your private lanai. Warm lava-stone massages are made for two. Championship golf courses vie for your attention. And Hawai‘i Regional Cuisine brings fresh, flavorful Big Island ingredients to your table.

Hawaiian at heart .To visit the Big Island is to find yourself in the heart of the Hawaiian culture. It’s a culture of appreciation, based on a timeless connection between the earth and the essentials it provides. Pause to admire taro fields along an ancient trail. Weave a basket of hala leaves. Or learn to flutter your fingers like the life-giving rain in the language of hula. These shared discoveries are just a few that await you on Hawai‘i’s Big Island.

Saying I doHow do you love thee? Let us count the ways. On Hawai‘i’s Big Island you can exchange or renew vows barefoot in the sand, on a Hawaiian sailing canoe in pristine waters, or at an oceanfront resort set against a backdrop of endless blue. The island is also dotted with picturesque and historic churches, each with its own style of romance. According to island custom, Hawaiian lei can be worn by the bride and groom: a lei of flowers or a woven floral headband for her, an open strand of fragrant maile leaves for him, and lei of matching colors for your bridal party.

Celebrating togetherThere’s no greater blessing for your reception than the joyful laughter of family and friends. From intimate dinners to elegant beachside receptions, receptions on the Island of Hawai‘i are as varied as your imagination. Many resorts offer wedding planners to fulfill your every wish, from a private sunset-kissed wedding to a hundred tables draped in white linen overlooking the sea. Want to do as the locals do? Traditional or contemporary luau are easily arranged.

As you wishThe day belongs to you. The details belong to your professional wedding planner. Smile and visit with guests while your decorators, hair stylists, tuxedo rentals, photographers, limousines, caterers, florists, entertainers, guest parking and room accommodations are coordinated with the precision of a symphonic orchestra.

Intimate hideawaysThe Island of Hawai‘i is the perfect romantic getaway. Tucked away in the seaside town of Kona, along the rolling pastures of Waimea, amid the quaint historic towns of North Kohala, along the historic Hilo waterfront and hidden among the lush rainforests of Volcano you will discover hundreds of quaint cottages, luxurious inns, lovely bed and breakfasts and cozy hotels.

Magnificent resorts Hawai‘i Island’s western coastline is bordered by some of the world’s most romantic resort destinations. Here, indulgence is a given and perfection sets the standard for all things. Oceanfront rooms open to the horizon. Sun-drenched beaches offer cabanas for two. His and her massages in outdoor thatched hale are topped off by lychee martinis at sunset. And with a dozen championship courses, even golf is par for the course.

Beyond the Beach Hawai‘i’s Big Island stretches 93 miles across, and is nearly twice the size of the other Hawaiian islands combined, but size alone doesn’t reflect its diversity—and abundance—of experiences. Here, you can explore the rim of an active volcanic crater. Snorkel hand in hand in pristine waters filled with colorful reef life. Ride the waves in a kayak for two. Photograph a breaching humpback on a whale-watching cruise. Steal a kiss in an ancient lava tube. Charter a fishing boat for a day. Or for an experience that’s truly out of this world, stop at the Mauna Kea Visitor Information Station where amateur astronomers set their sights for Andromeda, our closest galaxy. It’s no wonder our island has earned its name, Hawai‘i’s Island of Adventure.

Quiet rejuvenation Sometimes, even in an island rich in activities, the greatest pleasure is to melt into your lover’s arms and drift away. The rhythm of the waves, the whisper of gentle tradewinds, the heartbeat of an island where you began your new life, these are a few of the tender moments that will fill the scrapbook of your heart.
