What we do at CDTI CDTI is the national innovation agency reporting to the Ministry of Science and Innovation

Our main activities are the following: • Funding of R&D and innovation industrial projects:

bottom-up approach

• Support to tech start-ups through grants and venture capital vehicles

• Managament and promotion of international R&D cooperation programmes: H2020, Eureka, etc.

• Spanish representation to ESA and ILO for Big Science Research Infrastructures.

Guarantees exemption to SMEs and midcaps 500 M€ guarantee-free for R&D projects to SMEs and midcaps

• Purpose: to unburden companies the need to resort to financial markets for guarantees.

• Valid for all CDTI loans (R&D and innovation instruments) • Limit to guarantee exemption depending on size of industry

(small/medium/midcap) and if COVID-specific project • Midcaps: group up to 1500 employees • Limit: 31 December 2020 (subject to funds availability).

Fast-track loans for COVID related projects COVID-19 projects are approved in less time

• Special effort of all CDTI teams to speed up evaluation • Extra CDTI councils to officially approve projects • Some examples of supported technologies:

• Industrial research for SARS-COV-2 • Investments for face masks manufacturing • Vaccines platforms for emerging diseases • Technology to disinfect and purify indoor air and surfaces for the health

sector. • Advanced platforms for homecare adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic • Health crisis platforms for management and immediate response to health

Grants for COVID-19 related projects 12 M€ in grants for R&D and investment projects related to COVID-19

• Types of projects: o R&D (industry and technological centres): vaccines,

medicines and treatments, medical and hospital equipment, sanitary products, disinfectants and protective clothing and equipment, as well as relevant process innovations for efficient production

o Investment (industry): medicines and treatments, active pharmaceutical ingredients and raw materials; medical devices, hospital and medical equipment and the raw materials necessary for their production, and data collection / processing tools

Grants for technological startups 25 M€ in grants for technological startups in 2020 (Neotec)

• Objective: new businesses projects based on research activity, in which the business strategy is based on technology development. Technology and innovation will be the main drivers for the company and the cornerstones of its business plan.

• Minimum elegible budget: 175.000€ in one or two years • Maximum grant: 70% of elegible budget, 250.000€ • Bottom-up

Other measures Flexibility in reimbursements of finalised projects

• Flexibility in reimbursement of loans o Beneficiares: companies with one current contract with

CDTI. o No extra interests will be charged to companies whose

payments are due between 14 March and 30 June 2020, up to a maximum of four months delay in reimbursements.
