    THE BLUE SIGN

    Unfolded Blue sign

Whe n you look downstream with the flow direction), the right bank is at starboard

side. The left bank then is called the port side. A large ship that is sa iling against

the current has to give a suitable waterway for the descent.

In some cas es a large ship will sail at the left bank your right side), for example

because the current is less at that side. In that case the sk ipper will unfold a

blue sign that features a white flickering light. When the blue sign is unfolded,

pass the ship at his starboard side the side where the blue sign is unfolded).ass the ship at his starboard side the side where the blue sign is unfolded).

The larger ship alway s has priority to the smaller ship.

In some cases the situation is more difficult, because there are m ore boats pas sing. In that case

use VH F. When sailing in the Amphib grou p always follow the directions of the leading sh ip

organisation). The organisation will have contact with the skipper of the large ship with unfolded

blue sign), just to notify our intentions a s a recreational group.
