Biochemistry ModuleDeveloped by Elizabeth Schofield and Dr. Karl Haushalter

March 2017

Overview

This adaptive online learning module was developed as part of an intermediate course in biochemistry offered to undergraduates studying biology and chemistry at Harvey Mudd College. Students in the course have highly varied prerequisite knowledge, so this module sought to introduce students of varied background to enzyme kinetics, bringing all students up to speed efficiently and enjoyably.

It was developed on Smart Sparrow, a relatively young platform that allows instructors to develop adaptive learning modules based upon their own content and learning objectives, rather than relying on learning modules developed by publishers around prescribed textbook content. The course served as a pilot of Smart Sparrow for potential future use at the college.

The following screenshots illustrate some samples of the course materials and activities. This does not constitute a full replica of the course.
