1 Active participation at the various phases of the introduction and running of the M.E.Degree

Course in “Computer Aided Design (Mechanical)” at the A.C.College of Engg. and Tech.

Karaikudi, Tamilnadu, India.

2 Submittrd in May 2000 a proposal to the Ministry of Human Resources Development for

starting a P.G. Degree Course in “Computer Aided Design” and requesting Direct Central

Assistance for “Setting up of CAD Laboratory”.

3 Director Central Assistance of Rs,12 lakhs was granted in Feb.2001 for Setting up of the

“CAD Lab”. Utilizing the above funds a “CAD Lab” was set up in Oct.2002.

4 Submitting a proposal under Part II Scheme to the Government of Tamilnadu for starting

P.G.Degree Course in “Computer Aided Design” and Requesting for Funds for Development

of the required infrastructure.

A Government Order was issued in granting approval for starting the Post Graduate Degree Course in

“Computer Aided Design” at A.C. College of Engg. and Tech., Karaikudi, Tamilnadu, India.

Framing the detailed Syllabi and Rules and Regulations for the above P.G.Degree

Course.

Submitting the proposal for starting the M.E.Degree Course in “Computer Aided

Design (Mechanical)” to the All India Council for Technical Education, Approval of

the AICTE was given in a short time.

Applying for affiliation of the Anna University for the above P.G.Degree Course.

Affiliation was given in due course.

The M.E.Degree Course was inaugurated and the first batch of students were admitted

in October,2001.

Served as the Assistant Professor for the P.G.CAD section right from the inception.

Also served as the Faculty Advisor for the students of the M.E.Degree Course.

Duration from Oct.2000 to till now.

Government of Tamilnadu, based on the earlier proposals submitted under Part II

Scheme, sanctioned a Rs.31 Lakhs in 2000 for expanding the infrastructure of PG

CAD Lab. The entire amount was spent towards purchase of additional computer

Software and Peripherals.

Submitted in 1999 a proposal for „Modernisation of Metrology Laboratory‟ to the

Ministry of Human Resources Development. A sum of Rs.5 Lakhs was granted as

Direct Central Assistance in 2000. Utilizing the above funds a “Measuring Profile

Projector” was purchased.

Submitted in August,1999 a proposal for “Modernization of Special Machine Shop” to

the All India Council for Technical Education. A sum of Rs.6 Lakhs has been granted

by AICTE for the above purpose in April 2000. Utilizing the above funds a „Gear

Hobbing Machine and Cetreless Grinding Machine” were purchased.

Indian National Board of Accreditation has given approval of our department for 5

years accreditation from 2004 to 2009.

From Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme funds in 2004, the

following machines and CAD Software were purchased.
