minimum order value of £300. A standard charge of

scale of costs operates on higher weights.

Our Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs Departments must

approve all products before release. All development and validation

documentation is archived and can be accessed during an audit.

• Our quality system is certified ISO 9001:2008 and

EN ISO 13485:2003 for all its activities

• Facilities operate in compliance with the FDA cGMP 21 CFR

Part 820 (current Good Manufacturing Practices)

• Culture media ranges manufactured for use in the

pharmaceutical industry are compliant with the US/EU/J

pharmacopoeia requirements

• The Quality Control laboratory at our bioMérieux Craponne site

has COFRAC accreditation (Number 1-2367) to ISO 17025 for

Reduce our Consumption of Non-Renewable Energy Sources

Conscious that continued use of non-renewable energy sources will

cause greater environmental problems, we want to use energy as

responsibly and efficiently as possible. We have implemented an

eco-efficient program focused on three major areas: reduce

consumption, increase equipment efficiency, experiment with

alternative energy sources.

Conserve Water Through Good Management of Resources

Water is the resource we use the most in our manufacturing

processes. To reduce consumption, we favour closed loop circuits

and are actively replacing once-through cooling systems.


Paper

Reduce Paper Usage in Processes, Packages and Products

As we are constantly growing, we are faced with the issue of

increased paper consumption. We are meeting this challenge by

changing our product packaging and recycling paper.


Waste

Minimise Adverse Impacts on Health and the Environment

We have been optimising our waste management for a number of

years, reducing the weight of landfill waste, recycling and sorting

non-hazardous waste. Specialised companies handle hazardous waste.


Emissions

Minimise Adverse Impacts on Health and the Environment

Global warming due to greenhouse gas emissions is a major

problem. Because of the close link between CO2 emissions and

global warming, we are focusing our efforts on high CO2 emission

sources that have a significant impact on the atmosphere.

1. DEFINITIONS

In these conditions “the Company” means bioMérieux UK Limited and “the Customer”

means the person or company to whom this document is addressed.

2. CONDITIONS

These conditions shall form the basis of the contract between the Company and the

Customer. The acceptance of any quotation includes the acceptance of the following

terms and conditions. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the Customer’s

Standard Conditions of Purchase, these conditions shall apply except so far as

expressly agreed in writing by the Head Office of the Company. No servant or agent of

the Company has power to vary these conditions orally, or to make representations or

promises about the condition of the goods, their fitness for any purpose or any other

matter whatsoever.

3. PRICES

3.1 The price of the goods shall be the Company’s quoted price or where no price

is quoted the price listed in the Company’s published price list current at the

date of acceptance of the order. All prices quoted are valid for 30 days from the

date of the quotation unless stated otherwise.

3.2 Prices quoted are exclusive of VAT.

3.3 The Company reserves the right to increase the price from that advised in the

acknowledgement of the order, if such increase is due to increased cost of raw

materials, labour or any change in government regulations, or any other cause

beyond the Company’s reasonable control.

4. DELIVERY

4.1 Times and dates for delivery are business estimates only and not contractual

obligations. Time therefore will not be of the essence of the Contract and provided

the Company makes delivery within a reasonable time (taking into account all the

circumstances) the Customer will be bound to accept a delivery if made after the

date fixed and shall not be entitled to repudiate the contract or claim damages in

respect of late delivery, unless the Company has specifically agreed in writing to

the contrary on a contract by contract basis.

4.2 If the Customer or his consignee fail to take delivery of the goods or any part

thereof on the dates and at the places agreed then the Company will be entitled

to cancel such delivery and all other outstanding deliveries and to charge the

Customer with any loss suffered.

5. CLAIMS IN THE RESPECT OF DELIVERY

5.1 All claims for damage to or partial loss of goods in transit shall be submitted in

writing to the Company within five days of delivery.

5.2 All claims for non-delivery of the whole or any part of any consignment must be

submitted in writing to the Company within ten days of receipt of the invoice.

5.3 In the absence of notification of claims within the times mentioned above the

goods shall be deemed to have been delivered in accordance with the contract.

6. RETURN OF GOODS

No goods may be returned without the Company’s prior agreement.

7. PROPERTY IN GOODS AND CUSTOMER’S RISK

7.1 Risk of damage to or loss of the goods shall pass to the Customer at the time

when the carrier employed by the Company delivers the Goods into the

hands of the Customer (or when the Customer collects the Goods at the

Company premises).

7.2 Notwithstanding delivery and the passing of risk to the Customer as per 7.1, the

property in the Goods shall not pass to the Customer until payment has been

made to the Company in full in cash or cleared funds.

7.3 Until such time as the property in the Goods passes to the Customer, the Company

shall be entitled at any time to require the Customer to return the Goods.

8. TERMS OF PAYMENT

Payment for goods must be made in full within 30 days of the date of the invoice.

9. COMPLAINTS AND WARRANTY

9.1 Any goods supplied by the Company which are proved to the Company’s

satisfaction to be defective in materials or workmanship within 12 months of

delivery will be replaced or repaired by the Company or refunded at its sole

discretion provided:

- the goods have not been damaged or have not been improperly

installed or operated

- the shelf life of the goods, if applicable, has not expired when sent back

to the Company for validation of the claim

- the defective parts are promptly returned by the Customer free to the

Company as soon as the defect or apparent defect is known unless

otherwise arranged.

In any event the Company is to be liable for nothing more that the replacement

or repair or refund of the price of the goods subject to the complaint.

9.2 The Company shall not be liable by reason of any implied warranty or other

term for any consequential loss or damage, costs, expenses or other claims for

consequential compensation which arise in connection with the supply of the

Goods or their use.

10. INDEMNITY

The Customer shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Company from all losses,

claims, demands, damages, costs and liabilities to which it may become subject in so

far as they arise out of:

- any breach or alleged breach by the Customer of any obligations under this

agreement or

- the Customer’s mishandling of the goods or

- any negligent act or omission by the Customer or its employees, agents

or sub-contractors

11. FORCE MAJEURE

If by reason of fire, accidents, war, strikes, lockouts, riots, civil commotion, Government

prohibition or for any other cause beyond the reasonable control of either of the

parties, the Company cannot perform in whole or in part its obligations under the

contract, it shall not be liable in any way for loss or damage arising directly or indirectly

through or in consequence of any such events or happenings.

12. DEFAULT

Should default be made by the Customer in paying any sum due under any contract

as and when it becomes due or if the Customer should commit an act of bankruptcy

or enter into liquidation or if a Receiver of the Customer’s assets be appointed or any

arrangement or composition be made with creditors then the Company may at its

sole discretion without notice in writing suspend or terminate any contract then in

being so far as any further goods remain to be delivered without prejudice to any

claim or right the Company may otherwise make or exercise.

13. GENERAL

13.1 Any dispute arising under or in connection with these Conditions or the sale of

the Goods shall be referred to arbitration by a single arbitrator appointed by

agreement or (in default) nominated on the application of either party by the

President for the time being of The Law Society.

13.2 The contract shall be governed by the laws of England.

13.3 If any provision of these Conditions is held by any competent authority to be

invalid, the validity of the other provisions of these Conditions shall not be

affected thereby.

13.4 Date: these terms and conditions are to be referred to as dated September

2000 and supersede any previous terms and conditions issued.

2. Tab Menus

For every Head Tab, there is a specific Tab Menu shown in the

left hand pane.

This Tab Menu presents the complete list of contents within the

selected Head Tab.

If you select a title within the Tab Menu, you advance to the

specified page within the Product List. Further Tab Menu options

may then be shown if additional pages are available.

As with Head Tabs, your selection is highlighted to show your

current position.

3. Content

The content for the required Head Tab and Tab Menu is shown in

the largest portion of the page.

The footer bar contains contact details, and will automatically launch

Finding ProductsThere are three ways to locate products within this

PDF Product List:

1. Using the Head Tabs and Tab Menus

You can locate a product by selecting the relevant Head Tab and

Tab Menu and also by browsing forwards or backwards using

navigation controls.

For instance to find BioBall® products, these are located in the

‘Standarised Strains’ Tab. Click the ‘Standarised Strains’ Head Tab to

select and then click on ‘BioBall’ in the Tab Menu.

2. Using the ‘Shortcuts’ Head Tab

If you want to find BioBall, but you do not know which Head Tab it

is held in, go to the ‘Shortcuts’ Tab where you will find every

product category listed and click on ‘BioBall’.

3. Using the Adobe Reader Search Tool

You can use the Adobe Reader built in search tool to find products

by name or reference.

The search box is usually located in the toolbar above. To open the

search box if it is not currently available, choose the ‘Edit’ menu

and then select ‘Find’ or press:

The way in which you cycle through each result depends on the

Flexible Throughput

VIDAS 30 is capable of running individual samples or up to

30 samples simultaneously. VIDAS 30 is a modular system that

can be used to create VIDAS systems with greater capacity, the

largest is capable of running up to 1,000 samples a day.

On mini VIDAS, samples can be run individually or up to

12 simultaneously. Due to the unique reaction kinetics created

by the use of the SPR as the solid phase of the assay, assay are

rapid and allow for around 70 samples to be run a day.

Sterility Assurance

Sterility testing is a critical requirement in the

manufacture of sterile pharmaceuticals and medical

devices. Sterility testing media must undergo

growth promotion testing using prescribed

microbial strains (USP <71>, EP 2.6.1, JP XV 4.06),

and sterility testing methods must be validated

(i.e. method suitability test) to assure their capacity

to recover compendial strains when present in very

low numbers (USP <1227>, EP 2.6.1).

Alternative or rapid microbiological methods also

require validation to verify equivalency with

traditional sterility testing methods

(USP <1223>, EP 5.1.6).

Use of very reliable and consistent inocula is

essential to eliminate variation attributable to

factors other than the performance of the media,

processes or systems being tested. BioBall®

SingleShot and MultiShot 550 strains are ideal for

Antimicrobial Effectiveness Testing/Preservative Efficacy Testing

Pharmaceutical products, particularly multi-dose format products

often require antimicrobial activity to prevent microbial proliferation

or to limit the effects of contamination.

The Pharmacopoeias require testing of these products for the

efficacy of antimicrobial preservation (USP 51, EP 5.1.3, JP19).

Preparing consistent inocula for these tests can be laborious and is

often unreliable, necessitating time consuming repeat assays.

BioBall® MultiShot 108 is ideal for Antimicrobial Effectiveness Testing

or PET, in simplifying preparation and providing precise inocula:

• Designed to provide 10 precise inoculations over a 2 hour period

• Each BioBall MultiShot 108 has a batch mean between 0.7

and 1.5 x 108 cfu

• When re-hydrated with 1.1mL of re-hydration fluid it provides

Food testing methods are required to detect pathogens at very low

levels. BioBall SingleShot is a ideal as the positive control in pathogen

testing. BioBall can be added directly to enrichment broth or it can be

added as a matrix spike to a sample of sterile matrix and enrichment

broth (typically 25g of sterile matrix and 225mL of enrichment broth).

Non-Pathogen Testing/Quality Indicator Testing

BioBall HighDose 10K cfu

Non-pathogen food contaminants such as yeast, mould and some

bacteria, if present, are likely to be found in large numbers.

BioBall HighDose 10K contains 10,000 cfu per BioBall and is ideal

for the positive control in non-pathogen food testing.

BioBall HighDose 10K can be added as a matrix spike directly to a

sample of sterile matrix and diluent (typically 10g of sterile matrix and

BioBall® SingleShot 30 cfu is ideal used in a QC sample for water

and waste-water testing.

Testing for bacteria in water is typically performed by:

• Passing a water sample through a membrane filter

• Transferring the filter to a media

• Incubating the media

• Identifying any colonies that grow

The quality control of water and waste-water testing is performed

periodically with a quality control sample containing less than 100 cfu.

BioBall SingleShot can be added directly to a sterile water sample

and run through the standard test method, including the membrane

filtration. As the number of bacteria in BioBall is known, the test

recovery can easily be determined.

manufacture a BioBall Plant Isolate for example, environmental

monitoring isolates or contaminants of products or raw materials

• Available in two formats (see figure 1)

• No upfront costs and if the specification cannot be met, no charges

• Certificate of Analysis supplied with actual Mean cfu and standard

deviation for each batch of BioBall Plant Isolate

• BTF will organise everything from collecting strains to delivery of

the BioBall back to site

These offer enhanced safety as glass is

removed from the workplace. The bottles are

also significantly lighter than glass ensuring

that waste disposal costs are minimal.

Colorimetric TechnologyThe BacT/ALERT® 3D system uses the most up to

date colorimetric technology. This offers improved

time to detection in two ways:

First, they provide visual notification of positive bottles as

they arrive in the laboratory. This means that bottles may

be sub-cultured before they are loaded onto the system

thereby improving the turn around time.

Also delayed entry bottles will flag positive two hours

after loading. There is no need to wait until these

positive bottles enter the next phase of the bacterial life

cycle before flagging.
