SELECTION OF AZOTOBACTER STRAINS

After isolation of Azotobacter from soil its purity is tested in the laboratory in a pure form. In fertile soil Azotobacter spp. is found, commonly. The organism is aerobic in nature, requires oxygen for its growth. The organism is prominently found in alkaline or neutral soils. Strains of Azotobacter vary in their nitrogen fixing ability which depends upon pH of soil, crop and atmosphere of soil. Therefore nitrogen fixing capacity of strains is tested frequently. In order to obtain most efficient strains of Azotobacter we conduct different tests or experiments in glass house and earthen pots.

FUNCTIONS OF AZOTOBACTER

Azotobacter naturally fixes atmospheric nitrogen in the rhizosphere. There are different strains of Azotobacter each has varied chemical, biological and other characters. However, some strains have higher nitrogen fixing ability than others. Azotobacter uses carbon for its metabolism from simple or compound substances of carbonaceous in nature. Besides carbon, Azotobacter also requires calcium for nitrogen fixation. Similarly, a medium used for growth of Azotobacter is required to have presence of organic nitrogen, micro-nutrients and salt in order to enhance the nitrogen fixing ability of Azotobacter.

AZOTOBACTER SPP.

These are free living bacteria which grow well on a nitrogen free medium. These bacteria utilize atmospheric nitrogen gas for their cell protein synthesis. This cell protein is then mineralized in soil after the death of Azotobacter cells thereby contributing towards the nitrogen availability of the crop plants.

• Mix the inoculants uniformly with the seeds gently with the minimum amount of water taking care to avoid damage to seed coat. Dry the inoculated seeds under shade over clean paper or gunny bag and sow immediately.

• For transplanted crops: Mix the inoculants in bucket of water stir the mixture vigorously. Dip the roots of seedlings in this mixture before transplanting. Transplant as usual.

• It can be mixed with pit mixture before planting of vegetables / fruit crop.

BIOTAQAT -1SEED INOCULATION

(it includes major & minor crops)On the basis of efficiency of BIOTAQAT, other micro-organisms present in the soil, benefits obtained from BIOTAQAT and expenditure it is advised to use BIOTAQAT at the rate of 800 gm BIOTAQAT for 50 kg of seed. If one knows this proportion then take a definite quantity of seed to be inoculated. The required quantity of BIOTAQAT is secured and slurry is made by adding adequate, quantity of water. This slurry is uniformly applied to seed; seed is then dried in shed and sown.

BIOTAQAT -2SEEDLING (NURSERY) INOCULATION

This method of inoculation is used where seedlings are used to grow the crop. In this method, seedlings required for one acre are inoculated using an 800 gm packet for seedlings like rice tomato and tobacco etc. For bigger seedlings like banana up to 10 packets of BIOTAQAT can be used. For this, in a bucket adequate quantity of water is taken and BIOTAQAT from the packet is added to bucket and mixed properly. Roots or seedlings are then dipped in this mixture so as to enable roots to get inoculums. These seedlings are then transplanted e.g. Tomato, Tobacco, Rice, Onion, Cole, other Seedling Crops, flowers.

BIOTAQAT -3POTATO INOCULATION

In this method 50 liters of water is taken in a drum and 4-5 kg of BIOTAQAT is added and mixed properly. Sets are required for one acre of land are dipped in this mixture. Potato tubers are dipped in the mixture of BIOTAQAT and planting is done.

FOR GARDENS, FRUIT TREES, & SUGARCANEo This method is mostly used for fruit crops, sugarcane, and trees. At the time

of planting fruit tree 20 gm of BIOTAQAT mixed with compost is to be added per sapling, when trees became matured 100 gm of BIOTAQAT is applied.

o In sugarcane after two to three months of planting i.e. before earthing up 5-6 kg of BIOTAQAT per acre is applied by mixing with compost or soil. BIOTAQAT applied to seed or seedlings bacteria remain around seeds or seedlings and use organic carbon for their metabolism. When seeds are germinated or seedlings set in soil they leave exude or root exudates which become food of these bacteria. They grow on these substances which include sugars, organic acids, and amino acids and fix atmospheric nitrogen most efficiently. Nitrogen so fixed by these bacteria becomes available to plants after dead and degradation of bacterial cells.

During the first year, we can reduce 50% of the usage of chemical fertilizers and 75% during the second year. DISTRIBUTORS AND DEALERS WILL BOTH HAVE PROPER WAREHOUSES TO STORE BIOFERTILIZERS


Dealers should have mobile (Motorcycle) field force with them as under:Subject to the size of business and local conditions he should have 1 to 3 or more field workers with motorcycles.


THE DISTRIBUTOR SHALL ENSURE THAT NO PRICE FLUCTUATION IS THERE IN A DISTRICT OR INTERDISTRICTS DUE TO THE UNHEALTHY BUSINESS PRACTICES OF HIS DEALERS


IN HIS TERRITORY THE DISTRIBUTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE TO:

1. Maintain one price everywhere2. Ensure that Dealers do not trade among

themselves.3. See that there is no inter-district movement of the

product4. Ensure that the source of product for a dealer is

the distributor alone


The Distributor shall deposit a cash security with the company amounting to Rs. One Million per province.


Every dealer will be required to deposit a security amounting to Rs. One lac with the

distributor.

BUSINESS REQUIREMENTIn consultation with the company the distributor shall undertake seasonal marketing campaigns in the province concerned and shall arrange advertisement in the local newspapers, radio and cable including banners, leaflets etc. at his own expense.


Two months before every crop every dealer will communicate product requirement forecast.


A dealer will place his first order of 3000 packs of BIOTAQAT. A dealer’s total yearly order for his district will be not less than 25000 packs of BIOTAQAT.


Company will ensure delivery of the product within 21 working days after receipt of the price money in company’s account.


The company at its own expense will supply the purchased product properly packed at the destination conveyed by the distributor. Tracking number will be printed on the product packs


Each dealer will prepare sale data base as under:1. Name of farmer2. Address3. NIC Number4. Crop5. Yield of after application of BIOTAQAT6. Remarks about performance of BIOTAQAT7. Signatures of Farmer8. Signature of dealer

BUSINESS REQUIREMENTThe distributor shall ensure that no expired company product is placed on dealer’s shelf.If the product is expired with the dealer due to some reason that product (BIOTAQAT) will be replaced by the company charging Rs. 275/- per bag. Therefore by paying Rs. 275 the concerned dealer will be able to get a new and fresh pack of BIOTAQAT.


Company’s provincial level and country level inspection teams may inspect stocks and sale record of dealers and the distributor with a prior notice of 7 days.
