Ingredients 1/2 pound dried black eyed peas 2 cups vegetable broth 3 cups water 6 carrots, chopped 2 ribs celery, chopped 1 medium onion, chopped 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon seasoning (basil, dried oregano, rosemary, or sage) Materials Knife, cutting board, colander, measuring cups and spoons, mixing spoon, and large cooking pot or slow cooker. Directions 1. Rinse and sort black-eyed peas to remove any dirt or debris. 2. Place all ingredients in a large pot and mix. 3. Cook on medium heat for 2 hours, stirring occasionally. This recipe can also be prepared in a slow cooker. Place all ingredients in the slow cooker but use just 1 cup of water. Cook on low for 8 hours.
