Black people are:• Seen as criminals• Less educated• Involved in gangs• A threat to society• Lower class• Seen as violent people• Confrontational
Black people have always been stereotyped due to historical differences between blacks and whites. The media has strongly contributed to the stereotype, an example would be when black people get portrayed as criminals or gang members in films such as ‘Four Brothers’ which depicts a strong essence of violence and other criminal activities carried out by black people.
This has lead to the public following this image of black people which has had a major impact on the black community. It has lead to things like: Racial discrimination, people being prejudice against black people, Black people being wrongly accused etc.
Racism anywhere can affect people and usually coloured people are involved in this due to their colour and peoples ignorance towards there cultures and beliefs. Racism is also seen in public areas such as schools and can make people, especially children feel sad and angry.
This is a video of a kid who has been bullied due to his skin colour and feels violent towards other children because of it.
A good example of ignorance towards black people would be that the new ‘black’ president of the united states, Barack Obama is in fact mixed race and even though his skin colour is lighter than that of black people he is seen in that category.
Black people are stereotypically seen as ‘gangsters’ but a lot of famous black people do follow this trend as the public seem to like this image.
