TRANSCRIPT

Our product development team has investigated current standards and developed superior construction techniques to create a stronger, more reliable jersey, specifically ready for the vigour of the game of rugby.

The measures we have taken to improve our jerseys and ensure they will now match the best quality available:

?all seams include reinforcement tapes?three needle stitching?stronger TKT 75 strength threads?top stitching through the middle of reinforcement tape?adjusted machine tensions when sewing all hems.

We’ve reinforced the round neck and collar to make both necklines more durable:

?sandwich stitching finish - special collar construction ?round neck style finish - added strength with elastic tape

These jerseys are “rock-solid”!

Improved construction methods introduced July 2012

All seams now include reinforcement tapeTop stitching is now sewn through the middle of the reinforcement tape.

(No longer is top stitching (holds seams flat) sewn next to the reinforcement tape.)

Why is this method better?

Reinforcement tape does not stretch and stops threads from breaking. When threads are not being stretched with the fabric as the garment is pulled there is strength along all seams and no thread breakages.

Added reinforcement information

An additional improved construction technique is the inclusion of reinforcement tape along under arm seams on ALL rugby jerseys.

This method is applied along all side and shoulder seams to add extra strength and stop threads from breaking when the garment is pulled or stretched.

Bar-tacking is included at the underarm point to hold the four seams flat and ensure this area of the garment has added strength where the four seams come together.

Outside seamTop stitching is visible along the side seam with bar-tacking at underarm for added strength.

Hem constructionDue to the amount of stretch in our Titan fabric, machine tensions are adjusted when sewing all hems (inc sleeve hems). This allows our twin needle stitch finish to stretch with the fabric which reduces thread breakages.

Using stronger TKT 75 strength threads adds strength around necklines. The new three stitching method through herringbone tape reduces breakages because threads sewn around neck openings cannot be stretched.

Sandwich Stitching Finish

Sandwich stitching means inside and outside herringbone tape are sewn together at the same time

“sandwiching” the collar or neck trim between both tapes. This method encloses neck seams between both

herringbone tapes which stops any stretching when a garment is being pulled. Sewn with three needle stitching, the strong TKT 75 strength threads will add extra strength to this high stress area.

Sandwich stitch finish is used on any rugby jersey with an open placket style neck (besides Bio Fit jerseys).

What is 'sandwich stitching'?

Although our Bio Fit jersey is a round neck style, sandwich stitch construction has been used to ensure the best results.

Herringbone tape is sewn to the inside and outside neck and finished with 3 needle stitching for strength with three rows of Bar-tacking at the front for extra strength.

Rubber tape inside the front neck seam allows stretch without losing shape or threads breaking.

Round Neck Style Finish

Our product development team created an alternative finish to the round neck (closed neck) rugby jersey styles to add strength to their neck lines.

Elasticated neck tape is sewn around the total circumference of the neck opening.

Elasticated neck tape is a woven tape with a slight stretch which will allow some stretch when fabric is pulled, but still maintains strength by not allowing threads to be broken.

Elasticated neck tape is sewn around the total circumference of the neck opening.

Reason for using this method

Round or “closed neck” styles with elasticated neck tape are as strong as herringbone tape but not as bulky, and maintain a close comfortable fit. Using three needle stitching through elasticated neck tape adds strength around the total neck circumference.

Using TKT 75 strength threads means added strength around the neckline. All other standard features of our rugby jerseys including reinforcement tapes and specialty threads are maintained along our whole range.
