Principal’s Report

Dear Parents, Last Assembly for 2014 A K-6 assembly will be held at 10:10 this Friday 12

th December. We will be

handing out any special awards that have been earnt in the last weeks. All parents are welcome to join us.

Gala Day Thank you to the families who supported our Gala Day. Together we have raised over $10,470. The SRC raised $627 alone. This was a fantastic effort from the whole community. The students had fun and at the same time we have raised money for more resources. The money will go towards new iPads and other technology and to a new sound system throughout the school. The SRC have raised a magnificent $5000 towards the new system. It was a very busy day for all staff. At 8:30 each morning, until Wednesday 17th December you can come along to buy your child’s artwork if you have not already had the chance. The Exhibition is in the old Top Hall.

From the Café Thank you to the Kinder parents who found time to donate the cakes for the café.

P & C Thank you to the P & C who worked tirelessly to feed the masses. They have raised over $800 on the food and $420 on the showbags.

DIRECTIONS FOR 2015 PARENT INPUT ………SURVEY This week the students will be filling out a survey online so they can contribute their ideas to improve learning resources and opportunities at Blacktown West for 2015. Staff will also fill out a survey and we would like parents to contribute to ideas about the school. It’s quick, it’s easy and we would appreciate your input so …. Please go to the link on our website or come along before Talent Quest on Friday to the computer room from 12:00 to 1:00 and access the survey from school. On any day from 9:10 to 11:00, we can provide access to computers to fill out the survey online.

Sports Presentation Thank you to all the parents and families who have joined us to celebrate the students achievements in sport and academic achievements for 2014.

National Athletics Shae in 3/4/5S and Rishal in 3/4/5S represented NSW PSSA at the National Athletics competition in Penguin, Tasmania. Congratulations to both students for their outstanding results: Shae Discus 2

Fun Days Stage 3 Fun Day is tomorrow but as per our policy money cannot be accepted on the day. The last day was today Tuesday 9

th December. Remember to

be at school by 8:25am. Be on time- Don’t miss out! Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 will be celebrating with their Pirates and Princesses Day, Thursday 11

th December.

Come in mufti as a princess or pirate for a great day!

Instagram Please take the time to read through the safety measures necessary to keep your children safe! Some information will be handed out this week with links to websites for more information. It is important that you monitor what your children are doing on the internet. Does Instagram have a minimum age YES. You have to be 13 in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. Instagram will delete underage accounts if they are notified and verify the users are under 13.

2015 Enrolments If you know you are moving out of the area, please ring the school to let us know or drop a note to the front office. Soon we will be trying to plan the structure of the classes.
