The red-stained bowl had been properly placed at the topof the snow mound. The boy laid in the ground, theunneeded excess dripping from the cut at his throat and

tainting the snow below. I waited, the wind howling in myears. A heaviness overtook me and I must have fallenasleep.

I opened my eyes and found myself on a barren land, awind blasted waste like I hadn't seen even on theanadian artic. Icy dervishes swirled around me, closingvisibility to !ust a little further away from my arm. Thesnow bit on my body and suddenly I reali"ed that I wasnaked.

#omething compelled me to run, calling at me frombeyond the winds. I ran, falling over, tripping on snow-hidden stones, cutting my feet on their sharp edges over

and over. #o many were the cuts that after some time ofrunning towards my unknown destiny my feet were tworagged stumps, leaving small blood rings on the snow

when they entered to keep propelling me. (evertheless Ipushed forward. The cold gradually took the pain away, and so I picked up my speed as best I could. $ut thenour )ord's icy embrace overtook me and I started losingmy ability to move.

y mind started telling me to stop, telling me to stoptrying to reach a destiny that would take me nowhere, butI refused to listen. I rubbed myself as best as I could tohelp circulation, and when that didn't help I bit one of the

fingers in my left hand off. The pain !umped up throughmy arm and straight into my brain, sending some extraadrenaline back down through

my body. This extra boost help me for a few more yards, but then the wind was too hard against me, had torn toomany shreds from my shivering body. I collapsed on the

    snow and death overcame me.

*nly that our )ord saved me. +e came to me where Iwas lying there on the ground and picked me up,wrapping me in a silvery cocoon of thin ice strands. +etook me to the skies and told me that this scene wouldrepeat itself in my future the odds would be against meand my enemies would prevail. +owever, I should fearnot. If I had kept trying like I had !ust done, pushingforward, casting off friends and parts of myself if I

needed, +e would come to me and take me into +imself, making me in +is image and giving me everlasting life.

y things were at my feet, not covered in snow at all.(obody else was to be seen around except Ah"uak, whowas holding his own heart in his right hand, and seven of

my men. I can only conclude that A"huak must haveripped it out himself in an attempt to appease our od,and +e left him there as an example of devotion for theother seven. I pointed the example out to them andordered one of them to do the same. hen he was toomuch of an unfaithful weakling to do it, I !umped over himand cut it out with my knife, and we consummed it aroundhis corpse to show our bonding in devotion to our )ord.e feasted upon his body during the trip to Anchorage.e shall avenge our lord and our mission, and show how

his wrath falls upon those that dare look his way.

that were on duty with him up into the night. $ut +ewasn't appeased.

*ur lord Itha/ua had come to me in dreams the nightbefore and told me to pick up my things and bring themwith me to the ceremony. After he had taken thesacrifice, silence extended through the hill. ost thoughtthat he had left but I expected the worst, knowing that we

had endangered an important part of the plan. +e did ashe should have. +e came over unto us with all his furyand all his power, all his righteous anger delivered in abli""ard that blinded us all and raged for hours. I !uststood there, waiting for +im to take me up and deliver hisrevenge unto me. +owever, the bli""ard subsided and Iwas left there with other seven men. The base wasgone, buildings and men with it.

+is comforting embrace and the reassuring song of thewind lulled me to sleep.

I opened my eyes and found myself laying in the ground,my clothes tarnished from the blood-colored snow. Thecarcass was nowhere to be found, the bowl haddissapeared. I headed home.

I&ve decided to take A"huak's advice and research intoother possible aspects of )ord, looking for another key

that may help us in getting a speedier release. I expectmy main problem to be identifying exactly which one of0uet"alcoatl and %h1catl is the real form of the indalker. *r could +e be both of them2 y search forinformation on 0uet"alcoatl will likely lead me toTeotiuhacan - the place where the gods walked, I believeit means - where there are still remnants of a"tec indianswhich may be able to lead me in the correct path.

I'm on my way to (ew 3ersey, which would be thecowboys next logical stop if they recovered any papers atall from the dirigible. I'll try to contact $ryant in there in

case he is still in charge, tell him how things are. +e wasalways a soft one and maybe I'll remove him if it comesto that.

e did the ritual. All the base and the most of the townof %ndurance were present. e called our )ord. +ecame down to us and accepted the sacrifice. I tookarlos )arisgotia's heart out myself with his own huntingknife, the way that the priests of old did in exico. Theind ripped the throbbing heart out of my very hand and

that took it with )arisgoitia's body and the thirty plus menand dogs

    >on 8edro saw me today after an encounter with ayoung woman from town. %ven though he couldn't havedetected any trace on me - I washed thoroughly - he had

a strange look on his eyes. (ow he insists on calling metocatl, spider.

The mayans apparently signaled ?ukulkan as the escapegoat for #panish religious prosecution, insisting that?ukulkan was the devil that had made them do the thingsthey did. aybe they dissapeared because of thisreason, when our lord's revenge found them.

I am humbled. I am reduced. That's what our lord saysin his mournful songs that sweep the wasted plains of thenorth. The wind carries his words to us, his bli""ards

harden our resolve. here other men would give up, curlup and die peacefully under a blanket made of puresnow, we persevere. +e will return once again, he will befree once we have accomplished our task.

I'm not sure why I'm setting things down like this, like ifsomebody else would come after me and read them.)ike my life story was going to be important forsomebody after our lord gets released. Then will be thetime for his power and glory and all of those of us who

have served him will bask in his light. #era entonces /ueseamos recompensados.

I was reading 3ules Berne today, and came across aninteresting /uote from one of his characters. It clearly

summari"es our current situation. Cith the invention ofthis airship I hold control of the entire world, and therelies no force within the reach of humanity which is able toresist meC.

I !ust finished washing my hands. Tomorrow I'll have tolook for a new teacher.

The second sun, (ahui-%h1catl - the old man 8edro toldme - dissapeared shortly after seven times fifty two yearswhen the great hurricane was unleashed. This greathurricane, apparently, was a manifestation of0uet"alcoatl. *thers keep referring to him as0uet"alcoatl %h1catl, being both the 3ade 8lumed#erpent and the ind.

laughed at me. +e says that white is the color of thewest, the place where

0uet"alcoatl resides, hence his name. Then he laughedagain.

I left his body in the house. )et them find it when theywill.

I have returned to Alaska to direct our efforts here. Thesearch in exico proved more or less fruitless, and Idecided that my time would be better spent in here.

A"huak's health is failing, and I'm convinced that the onlythings keeping my teacher alive are his sheer strenght ofwill and the closeness or our )ord's release. I pray to theendigo that his health keeps, in case that I still havesome things to learn.
