our community, the Diocese and the world at large, especially the poor.
STEWARDSHIP BY THE BOOK
The three kings in today’s Gospel traveled a great distance at considerable cost to offer
their richest gifts to the Infant Jesus. How far will I go and what will I offer to do
homage to this newborn King and Savior?

As we continue our celebration of the Christmas season, we observe today the great Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord. The word “epiphany” means manifestation and throughout the Christmas readings we have seen that the newborn King is eager to reveal Himself to all those willing to accept His presence in their lives. From poor and humble shepherds to the international group of magi featured in today’s Gospel passage, Jesus makes it clear that He offers Himself as a gift to everyone.
We also see throughout the scriptures that God uses what is familiar to us to draw us to Himself. In the case of the magi – astrologers – He uses a star. Our Lord continues to speak to each one of us today. But we must be alert to “hear” and “see” Him in our daily lives.
How can we become better attuned to the ways God is speaking to us? We must strengthen our spiritual “senses” by spending time with the Lord in prayer every single day. In the same way that we set professional goals or exercise goals, we can set spiritual goals to ensure that we are taking the time to listen intentionally to God daily.
When we establish a regular, intentional time for prayer, we will find that the Lord continues to speak to us throughout the day. We will more easily recognize the “stars” He places before us to draw us into closer relationship with Him. We will begin to see that He is indeed present in our lives at every moment. February 2/3: Happy Birthday Elizabeth

HAPPY NEW YEAR Time is God’s gift to us. What we do with it is our gift to God. Pray about “your time.” Obviously we should use some specific time everyday in prayer with God. Give Him first priority. It pays off in numerous ways. If you get God in first, the high possibility is you will use the rest of your day more fruitfully. Of course you need time to relax. You need to make sure your spouse (if you have one) gets second priority on your time. You need quality time with your children or grandchildren or friends. Hopefully you will also make time for some ministry outside your immediate family obligations and work. Work—yes it gets a lot of our time but hopefully not at the expense of your spouse, your children or God. We pray you will enjoy 2019—all 365 days of it. Happy New Year to All.

Featured Adult Book of the week: “Finding God’s Peace in Everyday Challenges” “For those who choose the way of Jesus Christ, peace is not only possible but to be expected. Peace, in fact, is a part of the package deal of the Catholic faith, because the Lord Jesus himself is our peace. In one hundred short meditations, author Heidi Bratton leads women to consider how they can live out the peace that Christ promises: in their homes, finances, jobs, parishes, and in their relationships with their spouses, families, and children. Her real-life examples show us that peace can be lived in difficult and challenging circumstances. Each meditation ends with a heartfelt prayer. Even when our faith is strong, we can struggle with staying peaceful. This book is a constant reminder that peace is a gift from God, something that we can ask for and receive every day of our lives.”

thread?

great pain and confusion for the living,
even those of strong faith. Whether your
loss was recent or remote, someone young
or old, a sudden or an expected loss…...

can help. A new session of the Grief Support and Recovery Program
Begins on Saturday January 12, 2019

The Life of Padre Pio: Pray,
Hope and Don't Worry
Matthew Arnold recounts the
life story of St. Pio of
Pietrelcina, a twentieth century
saint and mystic who is known
around the world as Padre
Pio.
This presentation includes fascinating details about St.
Pio’s ministry of hearing confessions, his ability to read
souls, the multitude of miracles attributed to his
intercession, and how he bore the stigmata, that is, the
wounds of Christ. All are wise to learn from the advice
of this holy man to “pray, hope, and don’t worry.”
PLEASE NOTE: The CD/Book Kiosk has been
relocated to the Stewardship Room. The cost of
the CD’s and Books is $5.00. They are not free.
To keep this ministry available please deposit $5.00
per CD/Book. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Thank you.
Welcome Home The story of Jesus is the story of a seeker and, in the most hopeful sense, there is a seeker in all of us.
If you know someone who has been away from The Catholic Church invite them to Welcome Home. A 6 weeks series that encourages seekers to share their stories while exploring the possibility of returning to their Catholic faith..
Pope Francis reminds us that we are all connected. When your story connects to mine a powerful sacred bond may begin to form, one rooted in the promise of Matthew 18:20, “Where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them”.
Welcome Home begins on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, 7:00 PM, Elder Care on the Blessed Trinity campus.
For more information, contact: Mariano at 504-782-6065 or Linda Louise at 832-865-9045.

Pope Quote
Pope Francis’ words during the Catholic Charismatic Renewal’s Jubilee, Pentecost 2017: “Catholic
Charismatic Renewal, you are a current of graces in which multiple expressions have been born… inspired
by the Spirit, with various charisms, and all in the service of the Church… This current of grace is for all the Church, not just for some… Share with all in the
Church baptism in the Spirit.”
Let us be encouraged by our holy father to be immersed in the graces of the Holy Spirit that we may find the wholeness and power to be joyful
witnesses of his Love.
Come visit BT’s charismatic prayer group on Thursdays in the Adult Day Care, 7-8:30pm. Call Richard or Katy for details at 307-9009.

SISTER PARISH NEW YEAR GREETINGS Dear Fr. Patrick and all friends from Blessed Trinity Ocala and other parts of USA and Europe, I take this opportunity to say Happy New Year to all of you.
2018 has been a wonderful year God has blessed us with many things but most important is the gift of Life. We thank God for leading us into another Year 2019
We thank God for the gift of love that he has poured into your hearts, thanks for loving Uganda thanks for Loving the people of Nalweyo. Through out last year you have made us strong, you have encouraged many by your prayers and generosity.
When I think of the children whose school fees you have paid, the schools you have built in our Parish the Adoration chapel, support to the orphanage, provision of clean water, the solar lights given to over 3000 families, supporting the youth conferences, the priests motorbikes, the new power generator, salaries for our teachers in the BT schools, medical assistant to our Catechists and elderly volunteers, I really feel humbled.
If I list all, we can take the whole first month of the year reading the mail.
We are grateful to God that we celebrated Christmas peacefully and we have just finished mass for the new year's day. We had a seminar for end of year that started on the 29th to 31 midnight sharing the word of God. Tomorrow 2nd January we start the Diocesan youth conference hosted here at BT Nalweyo, for four day we ask for your prayers.
On the 18-20 we have children's retreat for children 7-14 years in our parish.
From the 25-27th January we have Family retreat for all married couples
It's a busy month we ask for your prayers.
Once again we thank you for the great work in Transforming our people and all the people of God around the world where your generous hand has touched. We are so grateful.
God bless you all and I wish you a spirit filled prosperous happy new year.
Fr. John Paul
Blessed Trinity Nalweyo
PEACE & SOCIAL JUSTICE According to the United Nations, 2.5 billion people in the global South still live on less than $2 per day. It’s the kind of crushing poverty that makes living with dignity awfully difficult. Fair Trade ensures that coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cocoa and olive oil farmers in the system are paid fairly. And it supports the creation of producer cooperatives in Asia, Africa, India, Latin America & Palestine that bring social, cultural and eco-nomic benefits to entire communities. Thank you for supporting these farmers, their families and their employees. We now have Single Serve Coffee. We will be selling all these products after Mass next weekend.
CHOIR SEASON STARTS AGAIN! If you would like to join the Music Ministry, Handbell choir starts Tuesday, January 22nd at 6:30, Traditional choir starts Wednesday, January 16, at 7pm, and Children’s choir starts Thursday, January 10. Contact Liz at [email protected] for more information!
A PRAYER GUIDE If you are ever unsure of how to start a prayer or what to pray for, your hand can give you a great place to start: • Start with your thumb – when you fold your
hands, it is the finger closest to you. Begin by praying for those closest to you – your spouse, mom, dad, children, siblings, grandparents, friend, etc. Ask God to bless them and thank God for these people in your life.
• Move to your index finger, also called our “Pointer Finger” – this is a good time to pray for the people who have “pointed the way” to you on life’s journey. This may be a teacher, mentor, friend, co-worker, etc.
• Moving to the third finger, it is also the tallest finger – this is where you can pray for our leaders. Pray for leaders of our community, our church, our state, our country, and our world.
• Next we go to our fourth finger – this is where we can pray for those in our lives who are experiencing some weakness. This could be a personal or spiritual matter. You may pray for people in your family who have left the church, you may pray for those battling addiction or someone dealing with a health or personal problem.
• Finally, we move to our “pinkie” finger – this is the smallest finger and now it is time to pray for any special intention you may have. This is where you can thank God for the blessings you have received and also send up your own personal prayer request.
