The BMus(Hons) programme structure ‘at a glance’
Each module is assigned a level within the National Qualifications Framework. Within our 4-year BMus Programme the three levels do not equate to the year of study (except in PrincipalStudy). Core modules in years 1 and 2 can be taken at levels 4, 5 or 6. Optional modules inyears 3 and 4 are taken at levels 5 and 6.
YEAR 1
Principal Study Level 4 60 credits Credits within this module may be split if youfollow a Second or Related Study (you mustaudition for Second Study).
• Level 4 Related Study = 0 credits
• Level 5 Related Study = 10 credits
• Level 4 Second Study = 20 credits
Historical Studies Level 4 20 credits
Practical
Musicianship
Levels 4or 5
20 credits Level taken is determined by the result youachieve in your start-of-year Placement Test
Aural Levels 4,
5 or 6
10 credits During the course of the year you opt to take
whichever level you prefer
Professional Skills Level 4 10 credits
Overall credi ts 120
All modules are prerequisites for Year 2 units and must be passed. The single exception is Level 4 Aural which, if failed in Year 1, must be passed at the end of Year 2 in order to progress to Year 3.
