Electric  consumptions  sub-‐meter,  it  follows  simultaneously  12  circuits.  Integrated  within   the   switch  panel,   it   communicates   in  Modbus  RTU  (wired)  or  in  Modbus  over  Zigbee  (wireless).

1

The  BNE-‐WM1-‐12L  sub-‐meter  is  able  to  follow  12  lines.

Single  and  three-‐phase  lines  can  be  mixed  within  the  same  device  (ex  :  6  lines  dedicated  to  monitor  2    three-‐phase  circuits,  6  other  lines  dedicated  to  single-‐phase  circuits).  Usages  are  so  globally  monitored  with  a  single  device.  This  device  is  integrated  directly  within  the  switch  panel  (DIN  rail  mounting).  It  offers  two  communication  interfaces:  ModBus  RTU  or  ModBus  over  ZigBee.

It  allows  the  measurement  of  all  important  data  such  as  energy,  voltage  and  current  per  phase,  phase  shift,  the  active  power  and  apparent  power  per  phase  or  total  power.

It  is  non  intrusive  in  the  electrical  installation  of  the  building:  the  measurement  of  the  current  on  each  phase  is  done  via  split  core  current  transformers.

Measurements   and   communication   specifications.   Installation   example   and  wiring  details.

Measurements:

The  wattmeter  is  able  to  measure  12  single-‐phase  lines  simultaneously  and  is  power  supplied  by  an  external  5V  DC  source.  It  is  able  to  measure  the  following  parameters:

Designation   Description  Vrms   RMS  voltage  on  each  phase  Irms   RMS  current  on  each  phase  F   Frequency  measurement  (Phase  A)  KW   Active  power  on  each  phase  SumKW   Three-‐phase  active  power  (in  case  of  three-‐phase  installation)  Fp   Power  factor  on  each  phase  KVAh   Apparent  energy  on  each  phase  SumKVAh   Three-‐phase  apparent  energy  (in  case  of  three-‐phase  installation)  KWh   Active  energy  on  each  phase  SumKWh   Three-‐phase  active  energy  (in  case  of  three-‐phase  installation)

 Communication:

• The  wattmeter  BNE-‐WM1-‐12L  communicates  through  a  half  duplex  RS-‐485  interface.  Communication  speed  is  set  to  9600baud  by  default  and  can  be  changed.  The  communication  protocol  is  Modbus  RTU  allowing  up  to  254  devices  on  a  RS-‐485  link.

•  The  wattmeter  BNE-‐WM1-‐12L_ZB  behaves  the  same  way  as  the  BNE-‐WM1-‐12L,  the  only  difference  being  that  Modbus  RTU  frames  are  encapsulated  within  Zigbee  frames  and  transmitted  over  the  air.  A  Zigbee<-‐>Modbus  gateway  allows  gathering  wattmeter  data,  the  Modbus  master  communicates  with  the  wattmeter  as  if  this  latter  was  wired  and  using  Modbus  RTU  protocol.

• Any  USB  /  RS-‐485  converter  and  Modbus  RTU  software  can  be  used  to  easily  connect  the  wattmeter  BNE-‐WM1-‐12L  to  a  PC  in  order  to  configure  it  and  communicate  with  it.

Vizualisation  LEDs:

• 3  LEDS  on  the  front  cover  enable  a  fast  diagnosis  of  the  wattmeter:

•  Wattmeter  state  •  Communication  state  •  Measurement  status

Electrical  measurement  types:

• The  wattmeter  BNE-‐WM1-‐12L  features  4  main  inputs  that  can  be  configured  independently  one  from  another.  This  enables  an  easy  integration  into  an  existing  installation,  as  can  be  seen  from  the  following  figure:

Mounting:  •  The  wattmeter  BNE-‐WM1-‐12L  comes  in  a  DIN  form  factor  box  with  6UL  length  as  per  DIN  43880.    •  Physical  characteristics  :

•  Closed  polycarbonate  box.  Conform  to  WEEE/RoHS  •  Dimensions  :  89.7mm  x  107.6mm  (6UL)  x  62.2mm  (Height)

Current  Transformers:

• The  wattmeter  BNE-‐WM1-‐12L  uses  Current  Transformers  with  integrated  burden  resistors  that  deliver  up  to  0.333Vac  rms.

• The  maximum  allowable  current  depends  on  the  actual  Current  Transformer  used.  • The  Current  Transformers  available  cover  a  range  of  maximum  current  from  5A  to  2400A.  • A  current  higher  than  the  maximum  allowable  current  may  destroy  the  CT  but  will  not  impact  the

wattmeter.  • These  CTs  do  not  enable  to  measure  DC  current.    • The  wattmeter  BNE-‐WM1-‐12L  may  not  be  used  with  other  types  of  current  transformers.
