The Board of Trustees of the Bowling Green State University met at its office in the Administration Building at 2:30 P. M. on the above date. The members present were Mr. E. E. Coriell, President; Dr. H. J. Johnston, Secretary; aad Mr. J. J. Urschel. Mr. Dudley A. White was unavoidably absent. President F. J. Prout was also in attendance.
The minutes of the meeting held on May 12, 1941 were read and approved.
Mr. Minor Kershner presented his Commission dated May 12, 1941 for a term of five years beginning May 18, 1941 and ending May 17, 1946 and took his seat as a member of the Board.
It was moved and seconded that Mr. Kershner be elected Treasurer of the Board. Voting yes: Coriell, Johnston, and Urschel. Motion carried.
Dr. Prout stated that Monday, June 2, bids for furniture on the two new dormitories would be received. It was decided to call members by telephone regarding the low bidder.
President Prout discussed at length the Federal Defense Work in our Industrial Arts Department, stating that the Government furnishes the equipment.
Moved by Dr. Johnston and seconded by Mr. Urschel that the defense courses set up by the Federal Government be approved. Voting yes: Coriell, Johnston, Urschel and Kershner. Motion carried.
The attention of the Board was called to the deferred registration and dormitory fees as of May 28. President Prout made the following recommendation for the coming academic year: a $2.00 initial deferrraent fee and a penalty of 5# if bills are not paid 60 days after the due date.
Moved by Dr. Johnston and seconded by Mr. Kershner that the recommendation be approved. Voting yes: Coriell, Johnston, Urschel and Kershner. Motion carried.
Prout. The housing situation of the University was reviewed at length by President
Dr. Prout recommended that the appointments for the summer session be delayed until the enrollment for the session is determined. All members voting yes.
President Prout recommended that the contracts for the regular academic year of 1941-42 be made on a provisional basis subject to the enrollment next fall.
Moved by Mr. Kershner and seconded by Mr. Urschel that contracts be given the faculty for 1941-42 as per recommendations of Dr. Prout provided sufficient money is available. If not, salaries to be pro-rated as per money available. Voting yes: Coriell, Johnston, Urschel and Kershner. Motion carried.
