Chapter 1 - About Me My name is Viviana Lizbeth Medrano Chavez, but many people call me Viv or Vivi. I say

that I’m kind, a little bit shy, but if I build up the courage to speak, I’ll speak. I like when things go my way, I like being handy as in I like making projects. I could keep going on talking about myself but I don’t like to show my narcissism. I’m five-foot two, I currently have short lightish brown hair, and black round cornered rectangle glasses. I love animals and the outdoors but since I have an autoimmune disease called lupus, the doctors gave me a prescription that keeps me from being in the sun too long.

I wouldn’t say I lived in a big

neighborhood but in a decent sized neighborhood there are a lot of animals around here. My house has a busy street in front of it and I could hear the trains’ horns as they pass by. I also have a pretty big tree in the backyard which was the main reason we moved here. I grew up most of my life here so I adapted to my living space. This place defines me because I love hearing and seeing dogs as I walk mine or when I’m at home. I also love climbing trees to the highest possible

climbing point that I can reach.

Since I’m a Jehovah witness my goal is to get baptised and go to Bethel or travel to different congregations and to learn different languages. My academic goal is to do well in school try to stay on task and on pace. I’ll be able to reach my religious goals with help from my family and my spiritual brothers and sisters. Going out on service and preaching the good news to people who have lost hope, will make me happier and help me reach my goals. I plan to reach my academic goals by pushing myself to move forward and to stay on task when doing my schoolwork.

    2  Dear Mom

1009 Northport Dr. Madison, WI 53704

91614

Dear Mom, I’m writing this letter to as a note of appreciation from me to you. Although I make you

frustrated most of the time, you still put up with me and I’m thankful for that. I also want to thank you for letting us keep Tobi which was one of the best things that could ever happen to me. I apologise for making you rage many times.

I love how you for raise me as best as you can. I also love the stories you tell me about your childhood, they’re really intriguing. I remember the time when you were there when I broke my arm cartwheeling and the time when you would make sacrifices in order to take care of us, sacrifices like giving up your office room so Tania could move into that room, and when you and Dad moved to the basement so Jairo could be in that room. I remember clearly when you left for Mexico in order to comfort my grandma and to be there for the funeral, sure it made me sad you didn’t take me but now that I think of it it makes me happy that you could be there for your family. I really appreciated it when you helped me become a publisher.

Thank you for all the great things you’ve done for me and our family. Thank you for teaching me to cook. Thank you for buying me nice clothes. Thank you for teaching me new recipes. And lastly, thank you for being my mom.

Chapter 3 - Self Defining Event Tobi Day

It was the best day of my life to find out we were getting a dog. It all started one afternoon, my sister and I were watching my brother play minecraft on his computer, then all of the sudden the door opens, startling us, we look to see who opened the door and it was my mom she had just spoken with my aunt and asked in spanish: “ Do you guys want a dog?” I answered: “ Yes, yes, yes, yes!!!” “Ok, but Jairo, you have to take care of it, ok?” “K” he said. The next day my mom got more info about how the dog looked like. “ Your aunt says that he looks like a poodle, and he’s white, and he’s small, we can go pick him up tomorrow.” Were the most wonderful words I could’ve ever heard at the time.

Tomorrow already came and my mom and who knows who else went went with her, brought the dog. We kept changing his name from Chico to Snowy, from Snowy to Spike (which doesn’t really fit him at all), to Ruffles, to Griffin, then to Tobi. Tobi really fit him well, so we kept it. SInce he was timid towards my dad towards Jairo, my brother din’ During the night we thought it was best to let him sleep outside in a cage, which was a bad idea. After we went in and got tucked in… *ahf ahf ahf* so out we go. “What should we do?” mom asked. “We can put him in my room?” I suggested. “Okay” she said. So we put him my room in a makeshift cage.

The next day we found out he had matts, which are really tangled knots, my mom tried shaving him with hair clippers for humans but it got stuck so we had to use scissors which took 3 hours to completely shave him. The poor thing, he looked embarrassed because he would hide and shy away from us, so we put a cute little shirt on him. I’ve taught him tricks like sit, sit pretty (which is when he sits like a human), lay down, shake, other one, and up which is dance. We still have him to this day. He’s like my little sunlight when I’m in a dark abyss.

He’s become very important to me because I have someone I can count on to always be there and enjoy life with. I love him like a mother loves a son. Have you had a pet? If not you should get one, they’ll really brighten up your life!

4 - Poem Time for School

Note: This poem is slightly modified from the actual event. By Viviana Lizbeth Medrano Chavez It all started with Tania coming back to virtual school Feeling left out I said: “That’s not cool” So I decided to comeback Mom said: “But you better not lack” We signed up for eachieve academy “Welcome to the family!” Days later school started Going to the classes we were “You better not get behind” Said mom, “with what you were assigned” “I won’t” Said I Not knowing that time, would fly Waking up late Is what I do not hate except for when, I have a class at eight So here I am now not knowing how But I’m trying to stay on pace Hopefully, in the right place
