since the previous edition was published, necessi-tating an extensive update in order to keep readersabreast of the current status of this evolving field.

Audience

The book is intended for students, physicians intraining, midlevel providers, and practicing physi-cians who care for patients with congenital heartdisease.

Features

The first two sections discuss the history and scopeof congenital heart disease and the dedicated, spe-cialized facilities to care for these patients. Sectionthree details cardiac imaging along with specificconsiderations including endocarditis, pregnancy,

exercise, and genetics. The fourth section isdevoted to procedural issues with individual chap-ters on cardiac surgery, transplantation, noncar-diac surgery, and transcatheter interventions.Section five includes chapters on the sequelae ofinterventions and nonoperative management.Numerous tables and algorithms make this aneasily accessible reference.
