Welcoming MessageDear delegates of AMSEP Japan,

First and foremost, praise the Almighty God who has given His grace to all of us. I would like to say thank you for entrusting us to accept all of you as the exchange program students in Christian University of Indonesia. I would also thank to all the committees and AMSA – UKI members for working in this preparation with a great commitment for this event.

As one of AMSA – Indonesia members in district two, AMSA – UKI has joined in AMSA – Indonesia as observer in 2007 but officially established in 2008. AMSA – UKI has a tremendous amount of passion to give positive impact to the members, the societies, the nations, and other district under the membership of AMSA – Indonesia. The embodiment of this passion resulted is hosting of Asian Medical Student Exchange Program (AMSEP) TaTaiwan on 2014. So, we think this is the right time again for us to take our progress to a higher level by hosting this Asian Medical Students Exchange Programme (AMSEP) with AMSA Japan. We hope that you will have time pleasant stay with us, blending in our core philosophies: Knowledge, Action, and Friendship. We are truly honored for the trust that had been given by

AMSA Japan to us.

Indonesia is located between the Asian continent and the Australia continent, as well as the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.And specificaly is located in south east asia, and is known as an

archipelago, which has more than 17.000 islands. (6.000 inhabited) - straddling the equator.

Sumatra , java (the most populous island), kalimantan (indonesia's Sumatra , java (the most populous island), kalimantan (indonesia's part of borneo) , sulawesi (celebest) , and west papua (also called irian jaya) are the five largest islands in Indonesia. Each islands have its own characteristics, cultures and small beautiful islands in it.It's is neighbor to the north is Malaysia, and to the east is Papua

History of Jakarta

Jakarta has been known by several names. It was called Sunda Kelapa during the Kingdom of Sunda period and Jayakarta, Djajakarta or Jacatra during the short period of the Banten Sultanate. Under the Dutch, it was known as Batavia (1619–1949), and was Djakarta (in Dutch) or Jakarta, was Djakarta (in Dutch) or Jakarta, during the Japanese occupation and the

and many more.

Founded in Yogyakarta, August 10th 1996, AMSA-Indonesia has been actively participating in plethora of national and international events. Its contributions to AMSA International as the root of the organization are succinct, having hosted four Asian Medical Students’ Conference (AMSC) in 1990, 1996, 2003, 2010 and two East Asian Medical

StudentsStudents’ Conference (EAMSC) in 2006 and 2015.

PHILOSOPHY[Knowledge] We promote scientific activity to increase and expand our knowledge to become qualified medical professionals in the

Founded on the 18th of August 2008 with Ido N. Bramantya as the first representaive. Located in district 2, AMSA-UKI has ben actively participating in AMSA-Indonesia, along with other AMSA

member universities.

Culture of Jakarta

THE LENGGANG NYAI DANCEA contemporary creation, the Lenggang Nyai is performed by either 4 or 6 girls. Lenggang Nyai expresses both the gracefulness and vivaciousness of the Betawi woman.Created by Wiwik Widiastuti in 1998, Created by Wiwik Widiastuti in 1998, choreographer from Yogyakarta, the Lenggang Nyai has become a popular part of the Betawi dance repertoire and is often shown at art and tourism events overseas.This dance has elements from the Cokek and the This dance has elements from the Cokek and the Mask dance and distinct Chinese influences. As the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta has so many cultures shared from all over Indonesia because of the ever increasing number of immigrants. However, Jakarta still has

its own culture to explore. Folk culture of Jakarta is called Betawi.

ONDEL-ONDEL Ondel-ondel are the giant puppets that are Ondel-ondel are the giant puppets that are inseparable from the Betawi culture and are now the icon of Jakarta. These are made on bamboo frames to allow persons to carry them around from the inside. Ondel-ondel usually come in pairs, the male wears a red mask carrying a gallant moustache and sideburns wearing dark colored clothes, while the female mask is white colored clothes, while the female mask is white with red lipstick. She usually wears bright colours. Both wear the typical Malay spiked headdress, called kembang kelapa.These ondel-ondel puppets usually lead parades at weddings or circumcisions, followed by the bridal pair and families, or by the circumcised boy and relatives, strutting around the village, gaily accompanied by bands playing Tanjidor or Gambang kromong music.

THE TANJIDORThis typical Betawi music known as Tanjidor is This typical Betawi music known as Tanjidor is said to have originated in the Dutch plantations located in the suburbs around Batavia, such as at Depok, Cibinong, Bogor, Bekasi and Tangerang, where local slaves used to play for their Dutch masters. When slavery was abolished in the 19th century, these bands went around busking to earn their living. This tradition of busking continues their living. This tradition of busking continues until today. The European influence is clearly visible from the musical instruments used that include a trumpet, bass, clarinet, cymbal and others. Nowadays, Tanjidor can be found fused with the Malay-origin Gambang Kromong music that include the tambourine, beduk, gendang, kempul and more.kempul and more.

SETU BABAKAN: BETAWI CULTURAL VILLAGEWith the large influx of peoples from across Indonesia since Independence, the indigenous Betawi have retreated to outlying areas, mostly to West and South Jakarta.A Special Betawi Cultural Village covering 289 A Special Betawi Cultural Village covering 289 hectares has been set aside at Setu Babakan, where visitors can see and stroll through the village that has retained its original Betawi architecture and layout. Gado-gado is an Indonesian salad of slightly boiled, blanched or steamed vegetables and hard-boiled eggs, fried tofu and tempeh, and lontong (rice wrapped in a banana leaf), served with a peanut sauce dressing.

Jakarta has various choices of foods and beverages to offer; from modest streetside food stalls and traveling vendors to the high-end, expensive restaurants.

Soto tangkar is another soto from Betawi. Tangkar means beef ribs in Betawi language, and hence soto tangkar always uses beef ribs as its main ingredient. Back in the old colonial days, whenever a party was held by the Dutch, a whole cow would be cut and some of the lesser choice cuts would be distributed to the locals, and the ribs were such cuts. Laksa Betawi is a Betawi laksa variant from Jakarta, Indonesia. The thick yellowish coconut milk based soup is a mixture of shallot, garlic, kunyit (turmeric), lengkuas (galangal), sereh (lemongrass), salam leaf and kaffir lime leaf, ginger, pepper, and contains ground rebon or ebi (dried small shrimp) to give the unique taste. The dish contains ketupat (compressed rice cake wrapped in young coconut leaf), tauge (bean sprout), kemangi young coconut leaf), tauge (bean sprout), kemangi (Indonesian lemon-basil leaf), and boiled egg, sprinkled withbawang goreng (fried shallot) and often topped with emping cracker.

Asinan is a pickled vegetable or fruit dish, commonly found in Indonesia. Asin, Indonesian for "salty", is the process of preserving the ingredients by soaking them in a solution of salty water. Asinan is quite similar to rujak', which is usually served fresh, while asinan is preserved vegetables or fruits. Kue Rangi often called sagurangi is one of the traditional cake Betawi are still easy to find today. Cake from a mix of grated coconut and sago flour is served with a sauce ofbrown sugar thickened with a little sago . Roti buaya is a Betawi two piece sweetened bread in the shape of crocodile.Roti buaya is always present in traditional Betawi wedding ceremonies.

Klepon is a traditional rice cake from Indonesia. It is a boiled rice cake, stuffed with liquid gula jawa (palm sugar), and rolled in grated coconut. Klepon is green because it is flavored with a paste made from the pandan or dracaena plant whose leaves are used widely in South East Asian cooking.

City TourMangrove Park PIK is a government-protected conservation park, which helps prevent abrasion and also works as a recreational area as there are many cozy spots provided.

The delegates have to follow all the rules made by AMSA-UKI while joining the AMSEP programs in Jakarta.

participating in this program. They have to report immediately to an AMSEP UKI member when they are feeling ill, or at any abnormal condition.
