Dear Sponsor/Exhibitor,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is a pleasure to invite you to the 22nd International Congress of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology & the 37th FEBS Congress, which will be held 4‐9 September 2012 in Seville.
As organizers, we are committed to ensuring that this congress gives real value for you as sponsor and exhibitor.
We aim to provide:
A world‐class conference facility, The Seville Convention Center (FIBES).
An exhibitor area designed as the central focus point and meeting place for delegates.
An exhibitor area set up to ensure interaction with the participants during 4 full days encompassing all poster sessions.
The opportunity for sponsors and exhibitors to interact with delegates.
Professional expertise to support all your practical requirements.
We expect close to 4,000 participants from all over the world bringing together distinguished professionals and young students in the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from both academic institutions and private enterprise.
With approximately one million inhabitants, Seville is the capital of Andalusia –an extensive region in Southern Spain that stretches from Sierra to sea. In 1992, Seville was the setting of a remarkable event, the Universal Exhibition (EXPO 92). Henceforth, the city emerged as a gateway from one millennium to the next, with a modern international airport, a new rail station with high‐speed trains to Madrid and Barcelona, and a far‐reaching network of highways.
The Congress will take place in the Seville Convention Center FIBES. The venue will provide excellent facilities for delegates to exchange information with each other and with representatives of industry and exhibitors. In addition, the IUBMB & FEBS Congress will give sponsors and exhibitors exposure and access to delegates with the ability to influence the selection of products and services within their organizations. Participating in our sponsorship program will extend your visibility beyond the exhibition hall to achieve maximum exposure at the Congress.

More specifically, we seek to:
Attract local, national and international sponsors and exhibitors amongst biotech and pharmaceutical companies, along with academic Institutions and Research Centers.
Provide an exciting marketing and scientific environment for sponsors and exhibitors of both private enterprise and academia.
Supply the means for creating an interactive and affordable setting for sponsors and exhibitors.
Facilitate the presentation of new, innovative technologies to researchers.
Assist the internationalization of national companies.
Publicize research and training programs of academic groups.
To achieve these aims we offer a range of opportunities with particular benefits so that sponsors and exhibitors can choose the package that fits best their marketing strategy. Where these opportunities do not meet specific marketing objectives, we can also create tailor made packages. Please contact the Sponsoring Office directly to discuss this option.
We believe that this internationally acclaimed congress will generate unique opportunities for sponsors and exhibitors. We welcome your comments, suggestions and will be glad to assist with any inquiries you may have.
We encourage you to join us and look forward to meeting you in Seville, a city full of history and culture, in 2012.
With best wishes,
Antonio Ferrer‐Montiel

About IUBMB
The International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology – founded in 1955 ‐ unites biochemists and molecular biologists in 77 countries that belong to the Union as an Adhering Body or Associate Adhering Body, which is represented as a biochemical society, a national research council or an academy of sciences. The Union is devoted to promoting research and education in biochemistry and molecular biology throughout the world and gives particular attention to areas where the subject is still in its early development. It achieves this in several ways.
The Mission of the IUBMB is to foster and support the growth and advancement of biochemistry and molecular biology as the foundation from which the biomolecularsciences derive their basic ideas and techniques in the service of mankind. It does this throughout the world with particular concern for areas where biochemistry is less well developed, by promoting worldwide cooperation and high standards in research, discussion, application and publication, and through international normalization of methods, nomenclature and symbols, in biochemistry and molecular biology. The IUBMB promotes the directives, values, standards and ethics of science and the free and unhampered movement of scientists of all nations interested in participation in activities related to biochemistry and molecular biology.
Every three years the Union sponsors an International Congress of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Co‐sponsorship of these Congresses by Regional Organizations of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is an increasing trend. The 21st IUBMB Congress was held in conjunction with the 12th FAOBMB Congress, in Shanghai in 2009 with more than 2,800 registrants. The 20th IUBMB Congress in conjunction with the 11th FAOBMB Congress, in Kyoto attracted over 9,000 participants. These Congresses are major international meetings where current research in all fields of biochemistry and molecular biology is considered. Thousands of individual research projects are presented in poster sessions and leading investigators from many nations review their fields and describe their own research in symposia and plenary lectures. Since 1992 IUBMB has also sponsored IUBMB Conferences and Special Meetings, held in the years between the International Congresses.
The IUBMB provides financial support for international symposia on biochemical and molecular biological research topics of current interest. It organizes or sponsors workshops, symposia and training sessions on biochemical and molecular biological education and supplies free textbooks and journals to training institutions in developing nations.
22nd IUBMB & 37th FEBS CongressSeville Convention Center, Seville4‐9 September 2012
6
The Union also funds short‐term fellowships for younger biochemists and molecular biologists to travel to other institutions to perform research, which would not be possible in their own laboratories, and provides Travel Fellowships for young scientists to attend its Congresses. Sponsorship of meetings and fellowships is restricted to regions that belong to the IUBMB.
As well as reaching biochemists through its own meetings, the IUBMB works closely with the four regional organizations that unite the biochemical societies of Asia and Oceania (Federation of Asian and Oceanian Biochemists and Molecular Biologists ‐FAOBMB), Europe (Federation of European Biochemical Societies ‐ FEBS), America (Pan‐American Association for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology ‐ PABMB) and Africa (Federation of African Societies of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology ‐ FASBMB). Indeed, all four are linked formally with the IUBMB as Associated Regional Organizations and three of them receive substantial financial support from the Union. The International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine, the International Society for Neurochemistry, the International Organization for Free Radical Research and the International Society of Vitamins and Related Biofactors are also Associated Organizations of IUBMB.
Reaching individual biochemists is also the purpose of another very important function of the IUBMB, that of publishing news, reviews, information, original research and nomenclature. Trends in Biochemical Sciences (TiBS) is viewed monthly by over 100,000 readers, keeping them informed of research progress across the broad field of biochemistry and molecular biology, as well as of news of meetings, people and biochemical events. Biotechnology and Applied Biochemistry publishes original research findings and reviews in the expanding domain of the practical applications of the subject. IUBMB Life expedites the publication of short communications, identified by their novelty and the need for urgent dissemination. Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Education is dedicated to publishing articles, reviews and editorials to assist the teaching of biochemistry and molecular biology to science and medical students throughout the world. BioEssays, co‐sponsored by the IUBMB and seven other ICSU biological Unions, is the monthly current‐awareness journal that describes progress across the fields of molecular, cellular and developmental biology. BioFactors publishes reviews and original communications on growth factors and regulatory substances. Molecular Aspects of Medicine publishes reviews that aim to link translational scientists to molecular biologists and biochemists.
