Our vision is to empower our students and staff to work together to become active

Subject Selection 2020

On Friday of this week, students in Years 7-11 will receive their subject selection materials. Please use

Parent / Carer / Teacher interviews with Home Group Teachers next week as an initial discussion point.

This will then lead on to the Subject Selection Counselling afternoon / evening on Monday 16th September.

To assist students and Parents / Carers, a Unit Selection Afternoon / Evening will be held on, Monday 16th

September in the Grey Building at Boort District School. This will provide an opportunity for students and

Parents / Carers to discuss student selections with individual staff including subject teachers, Home Group

teachers and Key Learning Area coordinators. Could students and parents / carers please select a course of

study and use the afternoon / evening to discuss and alter choices made.

The counselling will be conducted over the afternoon and evening.

1. Afternoon - 3.45pm to 4.45pm. Venue: Grey Building.

All student and parents are invited to discuss subject selections with staff.

The evening session has two components.

2. Evening - Year 7 into Year 8 Session. 7.00 – 7.30pm. Venue: Grey Building

A session for Year 7 students going into Year 8, and their parents / carers. This session will provide

general information about the Vertical System and selecting units. Information will be provided on the selection

process and the requirements to ensure students study appropriate units. Parents and students may like to follow

up with individual teachers following this presentation.

3. Evening – 7.00pm to 8.30pm. Venue: Grey Building.

This is another general information and counselling session where all students and parents / carers are

invited to discuss their student selections with individual staff.

Subject Selections:

Subject Selection sheets are due on or before Wednesday 18th September. They should be returned to Home

Group Teachers, with a parent / carer signature. Please try to select a course of study and then attend this

afternoon / evening to get further advice.

Gateways Chamberlain Farm Visit

The Gateways class thank Carl for the tour

of his farm. There was discussion about

livestock, crops, weather, technology,

chemicals and career paths towards a career

in Agriculture. With the work, that Carl

and others in the Normanville area are

doing with the Birchip Cropping Group

around weather and soil moisture, a trip to

Birchip might be on the cards for the group

later in the year.

Parent/Teacher Interviews The next round of F-12 Parent/Teacher interviews will be held on

Tuesday, 10th September. More information regarding bookings

will be sent home one week before with Interim Reports. Please

remember that there will be no classes taught on this day but

students are expected to come along to the interviews with their

Congratulations to the following students who had their pieces of writing selected to be included in the

Bendigo Writers Festival’s student anthology of writing. The topic was gold and our students approached

the topic in a number of creative ways. Well done to Alyssa Boyd, Lucy Malone, Ella Maxted, Richard

Field, Tayla Gooding and Amelie Shelley on their inclusion in this prestigious publication. (A copy is

available in the Library for borrowing.)

NCD Athletics Carnival

It was bitterly cold in Charlton on Wednesday and our students had to compete on a sluggish slow track and

swirling winds in the throwing event, but to their credit, we had many successes on the day.

Congratulations to all competitors who represented the school. Overall, our students were very competitive

and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and determination to do their best. It was great to see everyone

supporting and cheering loudly for our Boort competitors.

won their events will now compete at the Loddon Mallee Region in Bendigo on Thursday 10th October
