What we aim to do is to use LEAD as a catalyst to achieve leadership development in every experience we deliver.

Thus, the LEAD activities we choose to deliver should have specific purposes to boost the LDM quality is weak or missing in the different ELD programs.

Personal Development Plan and goal setting

1. Set your objective for the space (strengthfinder, leadership style, personal values…)

2. Research and share an online survey withyour participants (example)

3. Participants have time to answer the surveyand analyze their results following reflectionquestions (previous experiences, situations..)

4. In pairs, they share their thoughts

When finishing an intense day or week (e.g. OPS,transition…), journaling can be used to give theparticipants a space to gather their own thoughtsand write them in a personalnotebook.Make sure you prepare questions to guide theirreflection: “What is emerging here? What isimportant for you and why do you care? Whatmattered the most for you?...”

This tool can be used mostly for new membersand EP’s at the start of their experience. Provide atemplate of PDP for them to set their own path ofdevelopment for their upcoming experience andset goals for themselves. Most useful for EP’s andTL’s following-up their members.

Team Building

Team Feedback

At the beginning of the team experience LEADcan play an important role in setting the newteam culture.1.Define the purpose of the team experience inthe society we want to impact on.2.Develop and empower other people and learnhow to communicate effectively. What are ourstrengths as team? What can you give to theteam and what can we take? How can weallocate projects using our individual strengthsbest? Some examples exercises: Team DNA,Bestof us.These spaces should be organized by the TL or anexternal partner.

To come up with solutions to face challenges andto empower others people. Feedback can bedelivered in different ways: written feedback, faceto face or group feedback. Some rules need to beestablished at the beginning of the space toensure people are getting the learning experiencethey need.

Hosted Spaces

It’s a space to host meaningfulconversation. The facilitator “host” isholding a space to support the process oflearning without giving direct inputs. Theoutputs coming from the conversation thepeople have: dynamic might be differentbased on the group size. The conversationare triggered by 1 or more questions thehost proposes and delegates start sharingabout. This delivery method is the mostused and common when you deliver LEADfor large groups and the learning isfacilitate in smaller groups or in pairs.Ensure to have a specific purpose andwanted output/outcome of the hostedspace, which should explore deep thoughtsbefore creating the flow, powerfulquestions and hosting the space.

Conferences

Trainings

For reaching higher amount of participants, conferences is an excellent platform especiallywhen combined with Hosted Spaces, IndividualReflection& O2O activities.

1. Identify your need and/or purpose2. Determine what is the specific outcome andaction you want in your participants out ofthe space in conference

3. Create blocks that will build up to yoursession objectives to have a flow

4. Choose the best activities for each block!

There’s a difference between a regular Training orWorkshop to be consideredaLEADactivity.Usually, trainings and workshops are connectedwith hard skills and operational knowledge toperforminaspecificrole.

For this to be a LEAD training,we recommend to:- Ensure the soft skill is a basis for the LDM (forexample, public speaking to improve“EmpoweringOthers”)

- The delivery is not only one-way but gives spacefor participants to reflect, share anddiscuss

- Include training on LEAD skills to deliver toEP’s

Coaching

Shadowing

This method can be used to follow up on LEADindividually. Considering LEAD is an individuallearning experience, the coach can follow up onthe learning path of the coachee in an individualspace trough self assessment or self reflectionbased on the objective the coach design for thecoachee. Remember to take notes of things towork on to follow-up on your next coachingmeeting!

Resource Hub

The delivery through virtual channel canreproduce a physical environment of assessmentor reflection. You can use the space to guideconversation or to organize space of reflection. The virtual channels can be used as intermediatetouch point when the physical one cannot happenas follow up to activities already delivered. Forexample a monthly space for LCP to follow up ontheir LEAD program.Ensure to have a clear flow shared with thevirtual delegates and to also add interactiveelements such as spaces for sharing, either witheveryone or in groups through private chats.

The hub can be a space with meaningfularticle/lectures about different topics based onthe objectives of the LEAD journey. The readingof these materials can trigger the mindset andbeing a self facilitate learning experience. It canbe books, online articles, magazines coveringdifferent topic about leadership, self awareness, etc.

Page 17: Boosting LDM through LEAD

Please note that these are overall examples and it is crucial for you to customize the purpose and

delivery based on your needs, reality and main objective out of the LEAD space!
