G O Thankful Thoughts December marks twenty-two months of service in Argentina! There have been so many blessings during our time here, it’s hard to express our emotions as we prepare to depart. When we arrived with our three children our expectations seemed great, but God’s plan was greater. It would have been in our wildest dreams to see how our children have adapted and somewhat conquered. As adults, it was more challenging but as we made friendships with Argentines we began to learn and adapt as well. Here are some of our thankful thoughts as we reflect on our time here as we prepare to move ahead: We are thankful for the first blessing we received upon arrival in Argentina. At the airport we were told a generous gift had been given to accommodate our family in a house that had been empty for two years. This gift purchased all the appliances, furniture, heating and repairs needed in the house. We will now be able to pass this gift to another family with a similar story. They are from France and have left all so that the husband can study the Bible. We are thankful for seeing the fruits of the gift continue. God’s plans truly are higher than our own. We have been genuinely blessed by the ministry of the English Program. The relationships we have formed with students and parents have really impacted our lives. We will return to the states with a knowledge of teaching English that we know will build relationships and opportunities to share Christ .We are thankful for the ability to give while receiving in Argentina. An unexpected ministry has been discipling students in the bilingual program. We have seen over the past 22 months 3 different classes of students. These students come for 9 months to learn the language. We have opened our homes as adopted parents but also our bibles over coffee and tears. Loving on these students has been a pure privilege but a huge encouragement as well. We have seen these students grow in their walk with God and their vision for His plan. Thankful for watching these life changes and participating in them. A huge blessing for us this year as parents was to see our son Dakota go on his first “solo” mission trip. As a missionary kid you are a missionary in training but Dakota but it to the test last August. He flew from Argentina to Peru by himself to translate and participate in a mission trip. Instead of asking for support for this trip Dakota sold candy and personal items to cover the cost. Our hearts were overflowing as we heard stories of how he shared bible stories and the love of Christ with villages in Peru. We are thankful that God is doing a work in our 14 year old’s life. In September we were able to receive several donations to purchase uniforms for our schools newly formed baseball team. This was a blessing to our children as they were able to participate in a sport they loved and help teach the skills as well. The children received uniforms and baseball gloves as part of these gifts. Thankful for those who see the benefit in reaching kids for Christ through sports! Thankful ThoughtsDecember marks twenty-two months of service in Argentina! Here are some of our thankful thoughts as we reflect on our time here as we prepare to move ahead:

We are thankful for the first blessing we received upon arrival in Argentina.

Travelling in a foreign country has been the ultimate challenge. Our first year here the language was the major obstacle for us. The second year was the mobility. In May of this year we began to believe that it wasn’t in God’s plan to provide for a car. In June we were overwhelmed with God’s ability to pour out a blessing! Once we received the funds we began to see a bigger picture. Our thoughts had been to buy a car and then sell it for our airline tickets home, a good security blanket for us. BUT, God’s thoughts are higher and our eyes were opened to a need of a recently widowed missionary. She was driving a very old and undependable car to the capital every weekend to serve in a church. After prayer and counsel we felt lead to share the car with her until we left and then give her the car. The blessing of being the vessel that God uses to give a blessing is unmeasurable in Joy and for that we are THANKFUL!!

As this year began closing in on us we began to discuss how we could finish well. We began to pray and seek God on ways to better our language before we returned home. God answered that prayer with an opportunity to serve in Southern Argentina. In the Andes’ Mountains Word of Life has a family hotel ministry. This property opens for a summer program from January-March. William spent 8 weeks serving on this ministry team in October and November. They have offered for our family to join the staff and move on campus. This is an amazing opportunity as there are no English speakers at this property. We are thankful for this time to truly immerse.

Looking AheadOur visas to live in Argentina expire the last week of March. Our plan is to return from the Andes Mountains the first week of March and then fly home to the United States. We are completely relying on God to open doors for us as we come off this training field. We have no roots or barriers to where or how we will serve. Our hope is that God would use us. Please pray for us as we seek God’s direction and will.

Botts’ NeedsWe are grateful for your faithful prayers for our family. We are overwhelmed by the thoughts of friends and lay workers all over the world that lift up our names to the father. You are our greatest gift. As we are in two transitions, one move to the mountains and a return to the states we have a few needs.

The ministry in the mountains is usually staffed by single Bible Institute students. Housing our family of five is no easy task. There is a cabin located on the front of the property that has not been used for several years, as it has several maintenance needs. The roof leaks, there are several broken windows and it is without heat and appliances. We have committed to serving if we have to sleep in tents but we also know that just as God provided housing for us before anything is possible. Being able to repair and furnish this house gives us the opportunity to help the next family that comes along willing to serve. Our heart is to go early and prepare the house to be able to spend Christmas in the south. Please join us in prayer as we ask God to meet these needs by the end of December.

Merry Christmas or as we will be saying here in Argentina,

Feliz Navidad!William, Mary Beth, Dakota, Mason and Gracie Botts
