Aim of the National Quality Award
To develop consistent assessment criteria for Wales which recognises high standards and achievements in promoting and embedding health in schools in a sustainable and equitable way

Award Criteria
7 health aspects- Food & Fitness- Environment- Personal Development & Relationships- Safety- Mental & Emotional Health & Well Being- Hygiene- Substance Use & Misuse
2 aspects have specific requirements that must be evidenced –food (Appetite for Life), hygiene.

Role of local scheme co-ordinator
Local co-ordinators support each school through process & evidence collection for 7 health aspects over a minimum of a 2 year periodCoordinators will assist schools to compile portfolios of evidence with a minimum of one piece per criterionLocal co-ordinators can sign off individual indicatorsIndependent assessment invited when all aspects completed
