Overview• DTG project finishing in June – final round
of professional learning days and meetings
• Legacy of the DTG is the discussion material
• Website will remain live but not updated and will be linked to key sites
• Alignment of standards project is ongoing, level 1 at consultation, levels 2 & 3 to come
• Additional material will be developed by end 2010 (resources, exemplars, guidelines)
Related information• Current L1 external achievement
standards (IM and Tech) will expire in 2011 (Secqual S2010/010 - 30 March 2010)
• Unit standard based courses can still be run for Yr12/13 students and will still contribute to NCEA quals.
• Some expiry of Computing US as a result of duplication with new AS, not known until all levels released
• There will be a transition period
Course endorsement (not subject)
• Starts in 2011• Courses can be endorsed with M or E• Course must have a minimum of 14
credits of graded standards and at least 3 credits must either be externally assessed or 3 credits internally assessed (i.e no fully internal or external courses are permitted)
• A course can contain US but over and above 14 credits required (US not for endorsement but could count for NCEA)
Course planning• Should contain balance• Should consider the front end of the NZ
curriculum as well as the learning area• NOT be assessment driven• Provide many different learning
experiences and opportunities• Provide opportunity to gain M and E• Provide a relevant and interesting
context
