We are a team of expert national consultants that are empowered by the ability to use hands-on consulting to improve, operations, reimbursement, corporate compliance, and clinical elements for long-term care facilities and their staff.

We focus our time on learning the most recent information to teach and implement in facilities. We come into a building providing a wealth of knowledge that is used to create new systems and processes ensuring facility optimization.

Our mock survey including both the Traditional & QI Survey process is developed to mirror the State survey process. We use every opportunity we can to teach standards of practice and to train facility staff. Hosting a mock survey at the facility level helps management identify areas that need improvement. The process also teaches staff proper communication strategies and how to manage the survey process.

A proactive approach to survey preparedness is a mock survey done by an objective team of professionals. I can’t imagine going through the survey experience in today’s regulatory climate without such scrutiny.

Our Medicare and Medicaid assessment process identifies whether and where your facility’s existing systems and processes are less than optimal, the financial impact of the problems, and corporate compliance risk areas. More importantly, we provide solutions with specific methodologies and tools not only to rectify problems, but also to streamline and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the MDS/RAI process to better capture the clinical acuity of each resident.

Each assessment has three parts: a clinical assessment by a registered nurse consultant, a rehabilitation assessment by a registered therapy consultant, and a summary report written by both consultants which includes quantification of the financial impact of their findings.

Our corporate compliance program assists your facility in developing compliance guidelines that meet Medicare/Medicaid and OIG guidelines. We will train your staff in these processes and monitor to ensure compliance. Our audit will be conducted by the same random sample methodology utilized by the OIG. Our results are quantified to establish and error rate based on Medicare reimbursement comparisons. Assist can be provided for facilities exceeding the 5% error threshold to bring them back into compliance.

Boyer & Associates has a Dietician on staff to assist your facility in meeting regulatory and industry standards. We can assist you with clinical evaluation and education, regulatory compliance and evidenced based practice. Let our dietician work with your dietary and nursing staff in meeting standards of practice. Be successful in your survey by preventing issues with potential Food Borne Illnesses and sanitation issues. Let our dietician do a one – two day visit to evaluate your process or provide ongoing mentoring to your dietician.

These are the tools that a Boyer Consultant can bring to your facility:

Development of systems and processes to track wound development tailored to your facility (creating new systems or adjusting systems that are already in place to be effective)

Wound care training to key personnel in the facility to prevent wound development

Creation of a new wound care team that would be responsible for resident “rounds”

Oversight of the implementation of new processes for wound care prevention, ensuring a thorough follow through processes by staff

Training on: wound prevention, development, measuring wounds consistently and treating wounds

CNA wound care prevention training (can be used toward part of the 12 hours they need to be trained a year)

Boyer & Associates can assist your staff in responding to ADRs and Medicare/Medicare Advantage Appeals. This past year we have seen a significant rise in these reviews with many being prepayment. The rules have not changed but the process has and you need to have expert assistance in this process to be successful. We have those experts. You need to know what to send to the Fiscal Intermediary and what not to send. Let Boyer assist you in being successful.

Page 18: Boyer & Associates Services
