3 DescriptionThe bq51003 is an advanced, integrated, receiver ICfor wireless power transfer in portable applicationsoptimized for 2.5-W and below applications. Thedevice provides the AC-DC power conversion whileintegrating the digital control required to comply withthe Qi v1.2 communication protocol. Together withthe bq500210 transmitter controller, the bq51003enables a complete contact-less power transfersystem for a wireless power supply solution. By usingnear-field inductive power transfer, the receiver coilembedded in the portable device receives the powertransmitted by the transmitter coil through mutuallycoupled inductors. The AC signal from the receivercoil is then rectified and regulated to be used as apower supply for down-system electronics. Globalfeedback is established from the secondary to thetransmitter to stabilize the power transfer processthrough back-scatter modulation. This feedback isestablished by using the Qi v1.2 communicationprotocol supporting up to 2.5-W applications.
The device integrates a low-impedance fullsynchronous rectifier, low-dropout regulator, digitalcontrol, and accurate voltage and current loops.
