Tristan TorraLba The Strict PR o Freshional The wonderful world of pub- lic relations has its sunny side; amazing campaigns, top-notch industry events, social respon- sibility and great stories. This is the work of great PR pro- fessionals; a group of tough, creative and driven individuals wielding great powers of com- munication. There is a bad side, though. Through the 140-charact er posts on Twitter, between the lines in a newspaper and the hustle and bustle of the media, injustice is lurking. There are people and organizations be- ing misrepresented and treated unfairly every day. Key messages are lost in translation result- ing in poor brand reflection. In the world of PR, there are heroes and there are villains. Is there a force strong enough to turn this injustice around? Emerging out of the shadows is a superhero, surrounded by his CCPR Alliance and prepared to take down the villainous scum of the PR dark side. This is the story of Tristan Tor- ralba and his alter ego ... Trigger Tris  TT’s Mission Trigger Tris desires to help others convey their messag- es, visions and goals to desired audiences through the combination of his powerful personas - the dreamer, the visionary and the PRoFRESHional. Chapter One: The Dreamer

istan Torralba is, in every

nse of the word, a dreamer.

s a boy, he would spend ev-

y spare moment thinking of

e future and how he could

ange the world. He longed

be like the heroes he had

en on Saturday morn-

g cartoons. He was aware,

wever, of the impossibilities

telekinesis and time-space

ntinuum control.

o he went on a search for

al-life heroes. “Who saves

es on a daily basis in the

al world?” he as ked himsel f.

Doctors do! I want to be a

ctor when I grow up.”

or the years leading up to

s high school graduation,

maintained that dream and

ade sure that he had all the

ademics to back h im up. Then

e day it dawned on him. He

as not ready to spend the

xt 10-plus years in school.

He wanted to live without thepressures of med school con-

suming all parts of his being.

He wanted to be the hero … but

he couldn’t wait.

Tristan did not waste time, hav-

ing to find an alternate route

to his destiny. He went into

dream-mode once again. He

looked back at the super he-

roes he had idolized as a boy

and found one more common

denominator: They all ensured

that justice would prevail.

Eureka! He knew that he could

combine his love for science

and his super hero mission to

fulfill his dream. Next stop:

University of Windsor.

He arrived in Windsor, excited

to develop his next identity:

Tristan Torralba, forensic sci-

entist. He spent his days in lab -

oratories, concocting potions

and poisons that he could use

to catch the bad guys, red-

handed.

Unfortunately, he found the

social side of himself. He dis-covered powers he never knew

he possessed; the power to

persuade, the power to lead,

the power to control his fate.

DANGER!

He fell in love with the social

part of his life but lost track

of the mission he originally

had set out to complete. He

lost his way. Tristan Torralba,

the forensic scientist, was fad-

ing.

In the meantime, he began to

write in reflection of his life

and times. He started think-

ing analytically about social

constructs and the effectsthey have on human behaviour.

He started documenting his

thoughts through words and

images in hopes of finding his

next dream.

His alter-ego, Trigger Tris, was

born.

Chapter Two: The Visionary

Any superhero needs his intel;

a way to gather information in

order to react to the world as

it comes at him. Trigger Tris ac-

quired his most prized gadget:

a camera.

He was now able to see things

from a different point of view.

With a snap of the trigger, he

would capture moments other-

wise undocumented and for-

gotten. Think of it like x-ray

vision.

Trigger Tris discovered this newpower and used it for good. He

began pairing his vision and his

thoughts to convey his mission:

To help others.

Although he had this new am-munition to back him up, he still

So, Tristan went around duringthe daytime asking the peoplearound him this question:

“Based on what you know of

Me, what do you feel I am des-

tined to be?”

90 per cent of people said the

exact same thing ...

“You need to work in PR.”

This was the emergence of ...

Chapter Three: The PRoFRESional

He set out on his journey with a

pen in one hand and a portfolio

in another. These were his weap-

ons of choice that cold October

day. He went in and saw other

aspiring PR superheroes, ready totake on the world.

He would meet his first PR men-

tor, Professor B (Barry Waite).

Professor B’s mission: Assemble

a team to fight PR crime and to

represent the PR nation to save

the industry. He conducted vigor-

ous tests to separate the weak

from the strong.

He saw potential in Trigger Tris

and added him to his growing PR

superhero alliance.

Professor B, alongside JMR, The

BARRISter and Brucey, other su-

perhero legends in the PR Nation,

trained and equipped TriggerTris with the additional powers

he needed to be a PR hero at the

CCPR alliance headquarters, Cen-

tennial College. He acquired thefollowing:

> Power of news releases

> Power of media relations

> Power of effective writing

> Power of event management

> Power of communication

> Power of social media

> Power of blogging

> Power of copy editing

> Power of building relationships

> Power of branding

Not only did Trigger Tris increase

his list of superhero abilities, he

also built his superhero network.

The opportunity to join forces

with the Centennial CCPR Alli-

ance was extremely important to

him. Behind every good super-

hero are his superhero friends. They have collaborated on events

together; planning, managing

and execution. They have trained

together; countless hours spent

honing their skills. Finally, they

have grown together to form

the strongest CCPR Alliance out

there.

Trigger Tris has his PR suit on, his

gadget belt locked in and is ready

to combat the wild world of

p u b l i c relations.

If you’re ever in need of aPR superhero...
