Worship ServicesTypically, two styles of worship, Traditional at 9:00 a.m. and Contemporary at 10:30 a.m.
Communion is typically offered on the first Sunday each month. Professional childcare is offered during each worship time. Plan to stay or come early for refreshments and fellowship between services. Don’t forget to
wear your name tag! Please Note: Ash Wednesday worship service March 6th at 7 pm.

‘Drive-in Movie’ Event March 16, 3:00-6:00 p.m..
Some of the Kid’s Club children helped us
worship God as they shared a song in worship.
Families enjoyed the annual carnival in February
complete with a bounce house, food, and games to
win fish and collect points to use at the prize table.
Pastor George returned from 5 weeks of Air Force officer
training as part of his reserve service as a chaplain. He took
part in military training and leadership development courses.
Families are invited to turn a cardboard box (box and supplies provided) into a car and park
it in the gym in front of the big screen for a family-friendly film. Popcorn will be provided
and other food items will be available for purchase.

From the Pastor’s DeskAs we enter March, we begin the Lenten season, a season of soul-
searching and repentance that calls us to deeper discipleship. Lent
originated in the early Christian Church as a forty-day preparatory time for
Easter; during this time the faithful rededicated themselves and converts
were given final instructions in the faith to prepare for baptism.
During this time of Lent, I encourage us all to enter into a special
time of reflection on our faith journey and how it is being lived out through the church and in our
everyday life. Use this Lenten season to focus more on God through prayer, daily Bible reading, and
weekly small groups in addition to Sunday Worship. As you do, open yourself to the Holy Spirit, pray
for God to reveal areas of your life He wants to continue to transform after the image of Christ. Maybe
it’s giving up a grudge, a sinful behavior, or attitude. Maybe it’s handing over to God control of a
certain area you have been holding back. It may mean giving to God more of your time, talents, or
presence year-round through more prayer, Bible reading, worship, acts of mercy or missions, and
classes or studies at church.
Let Lent be a time when you are especially open to where God is calling you and to what God is
saying to you about what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. What is the next step for you? Committing
to pray for the prayer list, joining a UMW circle, or one of the Bible studies? Is it serving through a
food ministry, visiting the homebound or helping with Parent’s Night Out on the first Friday of the
month? Maybe it’s helping with Kid’s Club, youth group, or the meal on Wednesday nights. Could it
be a mission project, working the A/V booth in worship, greeting at the door, or welcoming others at
the Welcome Center? Maybe the next step is remembering that our mission as God’s Church involves
not only caring for each other, but also reaching out to others in our community by sharing your faith
and inviting people to church with the invite cards you can pick up near the doors to the sanctuary.
Refuse to settle for anything less than God’s vision for your own life and the life of Christ Church.

Join us in making shawls for those going through tough times. The shawls serve as a reminder of God’s love and the prayers of God’s people. We gather at 1:00 p.m. on the second Friday of each month in the Friendship Room at Christ Church.

carnival, and a food drive. These and other ministries support families from our church and community as they seek to grow strong
bonds together and in God’s love.

Mission Project CollectionsIn the south entrance there are
bins for collecting various items for mission projects and
ministries. You can drop off items for the local food pantry,
Campbell’s soup labels, and supplies for school.

Christ Church Men’s Bible StudyWednesdays at 6:00 pm in the
Conference RoomBring your Bible. Contact Brian Crowe for
the current chapter being studied. Then read in advance of coming to class. Bring a
friend with you. Let’s GROW!
The Evening Dinner Circle meets on March 4 at 6:00 p.m. for dinner and a
mission program.
The Margie Circle meets on March 21 at 1:00 p.m. in the friendship room.
Appalachia Service Project (ASP) Spaghetti Dinner & Silent Auction
April 7, 2019
Tickets can be purchased on Sundays or from the church office beginning mid-March, or at the door. Ticket prices are $7 for adults, $3 for children (3-12) and under 3 free. Dinner will
be served Noon-1:00pm with the silent auction running from 10:00am to 1:00pm.This is the 36th year that Christ Church will send volunteers to serve on this week-long
mission to provide warmer, safer and drier home repairs to families in need. Volunteers provide all repair materials and expenses. The dinner and auction help fund this trip.
Items or services can be donated for the auction (crafts, artwork, baked goods, sports tickets, memorabilia, goods or services from businesses). Drop off auction items by Saturday
morning April 6th or bring baked goods on Sunday morning. Together we can touch lives! Please remember there will be one blended worship service at 10:30.

funds have helped us with much needed building repairs or improvements so that our building continues to support vital ministry.

The Church will pay for people’s laundry and we will hand out invites to Easter events at Christ Church.

Need a Visit?Gifted lay people along with
the Pastor extend the Church’s presence to the homebound and others
through visits. If you have moved, are ill, having
surgery, or need a visit for any reason please call the church office to keep the
Pastor and lay visiting team informed. If we do not
know we cannot go!
Consider ThisIf you desire to give to specific ministries beyond your general offering here are some areas:
Apportionments, Building Fund
(helps with: painting, siding, repairs, parking lot…),
Compassionate fund, Sign Fund,
Roof Fund, Youth Ministry,Audio/Visual Fund,Camp Scholarships ($100 per camper).
We have bundles of worship invite cards in the entryways to take and give out: Put a stack at your office, store or place of work. Ask if you can set a stack out in a business that you frequent. Give them to neighbors, friends and co-workers. Leave them on tables at restaurants to invite your server (leave a tip, too). Give them out in drive thru lanes. Ask God to give you an opportunity to give them out. Keep a few in your wallet, purse or car.

Apportionment GivingChrist Church has a history of 100% apportionment giving, allowing us to help transform lives by God’s love. Apportionments provide for ministries that directly help over 50,000 people in Wisconsin and many more beyond. In 2019 our apportionment is $43,728, if we each give faithfully to the general fund and if able a special gift for apportionments, $254 a year per member, we can continue to support connectional ministries and free up more of our general funds to increase outreach and ministry in our local area.
Stewardship Makes a Difference!Thank you for all the ways you support ministry. This newsletter has examples of how our church is making a difference in people’s lives through your giving! It is good to see people trusting in God and answering His call to give. People are offering themselves to serve and their financial giving (several tithing 10% of income, or working toward tithing)! Check the connection table for Electronic Fund Transfer forms and ways to give of your time and talent as well. As you respond to God’s call in the giving of your time, talent, and resources remember if you have a need contact Pastor George.

Students are dismissed during the 10:30 worship to attend classes in the north and south hallways. Preschool-K – Room 14 led by Angela Furuglyas
1st – 5th Grade Room 17 led by Samantha Wallenta & Beth Green Middle & High School (6th-12th Grade) are invited to attend worship.
Options for Kids During Worship Worship Clipboards are located in the south entryway for children Preschool - 3rd grade.
A nursery room for 5 year olds and under is staffed with professional child care.
Wednesday Kid’s ClubA gathering for K– 5th graders in Room 18 from 5:45 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. where kids grow to follow Jesus as they learn Biblical teachings through hands on activities like: songs, videos, drama, crafts, Bible stories,
games, and mission projects. Classes are right after a free meal (5:15 p.m.) On the 3rd Sundays Kid’s Club kids sing at 10:30 a.m. worship.

March 1On the first Friday of the month, parents are
invited to drop off their kids (3 months-5th grade) at Christ Church for free child care from 6:00-8:30 p.m. where games, activities, and snacks will be provided.
This is a way to support families in our congregation and community by allowing parents to have time for themselves and their relationships.

March Change for ChangeChange for Change for the Month of March will be given to United Methodist Children’s Fund.This ministry gives to those who have the least resources to help themselves - children. Some
are children living in poverty, some are children who have been emotionally or physically
abused. Others are orphaned or abandoned by any number of terrible situations. All of them desperately in need of our concern. As Jesus said, “Let the little children come onto me.”
When they come, we want to make surethere is a place and a person who cares. Please
give generously to UMCF in March.------------------------------------------------------------
Starbuck School PartnershipChrist Church is supporting Starbuck Middle
School. Please pray for the school staff, students and their families as we seek to
encourage staff, supplement supplies, and support kids. In doing so we share God’s love while building relationships in the community.

stop, children will play a game or perform a task; then they will have their passport
stamped. Finally at the end of the trail, with a fully stamped passport, they will meet the
Easter Bunny. As the well-traveled children say goodbye to the Easter Bunny they will all
be given a goodie bag, thanks to your donations of candy. Our trail is inside. While
along the bunny trail, hungry travelers can stop at the oasis to purchase a hot dog plate
with chips, cookie, and drink for $2.00.
When you walk in the South entrance, you can register to win an Easter basket full of
candy, and a gift card.
Congregation – This is a Community Wide Event so it is a great opportunity to serve not
just our families, but our community!
