The history of golf in the area of Brescia goes back to the beginning of last century, on thehills of Lake Garda.It was here that, thanks to a combination of entrepreneurial intuition and the need to satisfy theever-increasing demand of foreign tourists, one of the first golf clubs in Italy was founded: Bogliaco.

This club, the third in Italy for date of foundation, and for this reasonone of the oldest and glorious, has the value to have opened the way to thegrowth of a sport which, for many different reasons, is conquering an increasingnumber of lovers.

Moreover, it gave origin to one of the most interesting golf circuits inItaly, the circuit of Brescia, complete with the Greens of Franciacorta, Gardagolf,Arzaga, Ponte di Legno and others, among which those in the immediate peripheryof Brescia are distinctive.

The Valtenesi area, just at the margin of the Lake Garda, is welcoming some ofthe most famous Greens of the Brescia territory: those of Bogliaco, Arzaga and Gardagolf.The Lake Garda is a lake of emotions, set in the middle of the provinces of Brescia, Trentoand Verona. Here, between Desenzano and Salò, there is the Valtenesi area, a uniquesetting made of wide hills, of an historical cultivation of olive trees and of the colourfulMediterranean vegetation. In this mutual environmental framework of particular beauty,there are some prestigious golf Greens, different in their technical tracks, but neverthelessvery close one to the other in terms of distance: less than half an hour drive.

Their particular location consents, anyway, to try different fields and to fully tastethe harmony of the places. Large woods and wide valleys seem to protect these wonderful Greens; animated countryvillages, antique farmhouses and wonderful residences give life and colour to this regionof great fascination.The large Lake Garda is a few minutes far from them and it is in its clear waters that theslender and clean outline of the Sirmione peninsula reflects itself.

Lake Iseo is a greatly fascinating lake, also thanks to his particular fiord profile and itssharp surrounding mountains walls, throwing themselves in its deep waters; the coastallandscape offers breathless views, with its galleries excavated in the rock and verticalvillages, alternated to small lake villages, where tourism of lovers of nature and sportsis addressing to. The lake on one side and the mountains on the other represent the idealframe to conjugate sport and relax.

One of the qualifying aspects of the golf offer in the Brescia district is indeed the place wherethese Greens are set.

Starting from the city of Brescia to the banks of Lake Iseo, there stretches out theFranciacorta. In this land of sweet slopes of vineyards, in this area voted to the productionof famous wines, the track of the Franciacorta Golf Club was drawn.

Golfing in the frame of mountain peaks is certainly a “must” offered by natureto golfers; and it is in this fascinating scenario that we can find the Golf Club of Pontedi Legno and the one of Alpiaz-Montecampione. Ski in the morning and play golf in theafternoon, otherwise spend a whole day on the Green and pass the night in one of themany typical restaurants in the Camonica Valley, tasting appealing and celebrated dishes:this is one of the pleasures coming from frequenting anyone of the Greens in the Bresciaarea. Golfing is healthy. Long strolls are made in the green and in the open air, inside ascenery stimulating concentration and liberating mind from all troubles: the physicalbenefit is associated to the psychological one, taking away daily stressing rhythms andproducing relaxing and regenerating effects.

Moreover, golfing gathers people, it offers many opportunities to meet, speakabout business, know friends or happily challenge in competitions because it unites people,even when they deal with a real competition. Moreover, every club organizes occasionsfor socialization involving not only golfers but also their wives and children or golfers’friends not playing golf at all.

From the Green in Franciacorta, it is easy to see the dominating shapes of antique noblecastles and of country residences; many of these are nowadays the domicile of wine producersand have become the ideal destination for buying, directly from the wine cellars, a varietyof wines among the most celebrated in Italy.

BOGLIACO

In Bogliaco Golf Club, traps indifferently come from long holes (like the 6, a par 4overcoming the 400) and from the most fascinating ones (hole 4, a par 3 from where youcan dominate the Lake Garda).The history of the Club dates back to the year 1912, with the construction of the firstsmall modest edifice made of only two rooms, one dedicated to the storage of the sacsand the other one to the bar. Similarly to the golf track, which has become more and moreinteresting, also the Club structure has developed and improved; the Clubhouse hasprogressively enlarged and transformed in the welcoming and comfortable structure ofnowadays, perfectly integrated in the surrounding environment.Golfers and visitors are welcomed in a cosy and friendly atmosphere where everybodyworking there contributes to make the guests feel at ease.

Its high position allows a wonderful sight of the Lake, enjoyable for almost itstotal length, and of the surrounding mountains.The mild climate offers the chance to play all the year or simply to spend serene momentsin a green oasis.

The technical track of the Bogliaco Golf Club is well known among the golfers comingfrom all Italy.The technical track of 9 holes can put to the test even the most expert golfers, who have tomatch up to strokes asking skill in order to hit the fairway and the well protected Greens.

Situated close to the western hills of the Lake Garda, the Golf Bogliaco is set in a basin at100 meters altitude, characterized by a triumph of oleanders, cypresses, olive trees and othertypical Mediterranean vegetation.

GARDAGOLF

Gardagolf is located on a wide green hill, offering views of the Lake of an incrediblebeauty; the green is considered one of the best in Italy from experts and professionals:its 18 and 9 holes (par 72, of 6.505 meters and par 36, of 2.635 meters). The track iswinding among green prominences and natural obstacles, which hide difficulties also tothe most skilled golfers, with wide fairways and ponds.

The track is winding along the Valtenesi hills (a well known area for the productionof white and red wines, of the “Chiaretto” and for the production of the famous olive oil);on the highest hills, the shapes of antique castles are rising, surrounded by colourful andrich vegetation.

Gardagolf is open the whole year, and is welcoming many important matches andCups, attended by international champions, as well as intense activities engaging theAssociates in amusing tournaments

Ideal complements of a day spent on the Green are the many excursions that thetourists can make on the hills of this beautiful area or at the elegant towns of Sirmione,Desenzano and Salò; it is imperative not to lose the several fairs and local feasts dedicatedto the truffle, lake fish, wine or olive oil.

The Gardagolf Country Club is situated a few kilometres far from the Lake Garda; its engagingtracks have always been a hard trial also for the best European and Italian golfers’ skill.

ARZAGA

The environment of the Arzaga Golf Club is made of the sweet hills of the Lake Gardaand of luxurious natural vegetation, where ancient farmhouses and manors are hidden;in this landscape, guests also find the Hotel Palazzo Arzaga, and are welcomed in thewonderful frame of a rich residence, whose gentle renovation of suites and attics keptperfectly intact frescos of the XV century, fireplaces and coat of arms decorating roomsand creating a particular atmosphere.In this incredible setting, the ideal day starts with a small activity in the swimming-pool,some relax at the Health Centre, an agreeable breakfast and then straight to the Greens.The layout of the Green in Arzaga is winding among gentle slopes and fair ponds, whichincrease the harmony of this landscape; but the technical difficulties are many: longfairways and deep bunkers represent a continuous challenge for golfers.Two greens made of 9 and 18 holes (par 36 the first, designed by Gary Player; par 72 thesecond, designed by Jack Nicklaus) consent friends and competitors to challenge in equalsatisfaction; the two greens are gently melting with the landscape and the tourist's sightwillingly lingers on the panorama of the Alps, in the mid of the green of the environmentand the bleu of the Lake and the sky.Arzaga is open the whole year and, even after a heavy rain, an excellent drainage systemallows to immediately restart the game; its nearness with the Lake Garda permits unlimitedopportunities for entertainment, shopping, and vacations dedicated to culture or significantfood, while regaining physical and mental health and energies: that means an immensejoy of living.

The Arzaga Golf Club is rising in the middle of a green oasis, surrounded by sunflower fieldsand immersed in the country tranquillity.

FRANCIACORTA GOLF CLUB

The Franciacorta Golf Club stands out in the pleasant atmosphere of the Franciacorta hills.The Club is surrounded by the famous vineyards, from where prestigious wines born andit represents the heritage of an historical prestige, from its foundation in the year 1927, afterwhen the Club interrupted its activity during the period of the Second World War. Sincethat period of time, the Franciacorta Golf Club frequently welcomed foreign golfers, whodid not miss to express their love for this area, for the excellent typical products (mainlylake fish and wines of the close Lake Iseo), as well as for the technical feature of the tracks.The Green calls for skill, technique and training: sweet slopes and particular holes areperfectly integrated in the natural environment, with its deep green vegetation surroundingthe large artificial lake created inside the green.The track “Championship”, 18 holes, has a par 72 and 5.967 meters length; the track“Executive”, 9 holes, has a par 27 and 892 meters length.

The rich presence of sportive structures completes the part of the equipments provided bythe Club and which allow the Associates and their friends or relatives to spend amusingdays, in a pleasant atmosphere, both from the environmental and naturalistic points of view.

GOLF IN THE MOUNTAINS

The shape of the Brescia province, rich in mountains and hills, together with the enterpriseof a group of golf lovers, consents to live the unique emotion to ski in the morning on thePresena glacier (whose ski tracks can be experienced the whole year) and to play golf inthe afternoon, on the Greens of the Golf Club Pontedilegno or Montecampione-Alpiaz.

Its moderately rough and not excessively difficult 9 holes Green allows to play golf in anextremely pleasant and relaxing environment. The fascination of the mountains is defined inthe design of the track, as well as in the forests and the peaks surrounding the Club, or in thewarm atmospheres of the typical restaurants or the small craftsmanship shops or local food.Also the new small Green in Alpiaz, immersed in the green of the Lombardy Alps, representa touristy reality in steady development.From its 1.200 meters altitude, the tourists can breathe healthy and fresh air and the quietnessof the environment is one of the many pleasant sensations offered by the nature of this region.

The technical characteristics of the Franciacorta Golf Club, as professional and amateurplayers say, are considerably interesting; in fact, the Green is the notorious place forcompetitions of national level.

Situated at 1.500 meters altitude, among the mountains of the High Camonica Valley,Pontedilegno is inserted in a wonderful mountain landscape.
