lHere we are again Time to sample all the fall brews out there. I've never seen the Blue Moon one until this year. Love the Leinies, Schell's, and Sam Adams. I went on the hunt for the Brau Brothers "Quad Ale" on Saturday. I tasted it at Braufest in June. It wasn't done yet, they were aging it in used whiskey barrels. They had that one and I think it was a scotch ale aging in their storage shed. Anyway, It was one of the best beers I've had in a while and I've had quite a few! I was looking for a six pack on Saturday and wasn't having any luck. I finally asked Tom out at Cash-Wise where I could find some. Not only does he manage a liquor store but he's related to the Brau Brothers from Lucan, so I knew he could help. He said something to the effect, "I keep that under wraps and only let special people buy it." He was going to sell me some anyway. It was 12 or 13 bucks for a 22 oz. bottle. We had just returned from vacation and I really wasn't in a spending mood, so I passed it up. Now I'm kicking myself, because I'm thirsty! Thank you to the Stuebers for hosting another successful StubieFest. The can shoot was a good time and Tom has the video to prove it! The hayride was filled to capacity again this year. Thanks to Sue Miner, there was no shortage of jello shots on and a woman on our wagon was throwing them out like they were candy at a parade! Every year I look forward to seeing what Dan S. has made for his brothers. From beer kegs cut in half to beer trays, the boxes this year take the prize as best ever. I hear talk that there may be another StubieFest next year. I don't know if this is true or not, but I wouldn't be opposed to the idea. I've never had a bad time at StubieFest or any other Border Batch event for that matter. Another big thank you to everybody who bid on all the cool items on the auction. That is a big boost for the club as well as a chance to get some very nice items to add to your collection. Your generosity is appreciated by every member of the club. I think this is my last letter as president. I will turn the gavel over to that new guy in the club at the Christmas party. What the heck is his name? Steve"Bear"Miner will take over as president. This man would do anything for this club. Not only did he start the club, but has served in this role more than once. He also has the most impressive collection of beer stuff I've ever seen. Like he says, "If you're into that kind of thing". The Schell's Border Batch is in safe hands for another year. We will hold an election for vice-president at that meeting also. On the ballot will be Dan Stueber, Tim Tanley, and Father Furray Srock. Speaking of the Christmas party, don't forget your beer for the exchange. I have really enjoyed my time in office and the first lady was liking her status! I look forward to many more years of telling jokes, drinking beer, and eating great food with everyone. Prosit!! Quote of the Newsletter: "People who drink light beer don't like the taste of beer, they just like to pee alot." and, Woman: "You're drunk again." Man: "No, I'm just exhausted 'cause I've been up all night drinking."
