Lamadrid has an MA in Dance Education from UCLA and a BA inDance from Santa Clara University. She and her experienced staff are proud to be part of BriargroveElementary after school and look forward to dancing through the year with your kids.

Teacher Description

Learn both basics of the ballet language both physically and intellectually. We will tackle all the positions ofthe arms, feet and legs based on Cecchetii and Vaganova ballet schools. All are welcome no experienceneeded just a drive to be a beautiful butterfly or afun little bunny. Dress Code: Ballet shoes, pink tights and black leotard are suggested.

In this Painting on Canvas for beginners, students will become observers of nature and inanimate objects to discover shades of colors, light andshadows. Students will learn about color-scheme, texture and paint dilution. They will exercise different strokes. The color wheel will be introducedand students will do some exercises on canvas. Famous paintings will be observed in detail guided by the teacher’s questions. Students will be setin front of a still-life, they will explore and express their ideas verbally and then they will paint their own canvas. Students will be challenge toexpress freely their ideas through colors and shapes. At the end of the course, we would love to have an art exhibition. Painting on Canvas forbeginners is a great introductory course to Art.

Our lead robotics instructor is a computer engineer. He conducts various workshops and clinics for our instructors in the latest and most innovativepractices in STEM robotics. Our teachers have extensive experience in working with children and teens.

This STEM class is a mixed bag that combines Robotics, Engineering and Physical Science. Students will build a spaghetti bridge and test forstability, build straw rockets and balsa gliders to test speed and distance. Build the tower of power out of index cards to learn about the designprocess and build a human skeleton out of noodles to learn about bones. These and other modular units used in this very creative class willencourage problem solving and an understanding of various scientific principles.
