VISIONBrick Road Magazine is San Diego State’s ONLY full-color entertainment magazine. We are a monthly publication with a distribution of 10,000 copies as well as online publishing. Brick Road Magazine is every CSU student’s magazine. Born from the passion within us to “wake the youth from their apathetic slumber,” we have created a magazine with subtle political undertones devised to inspire intellectual curiosity. But we remember being fresh to college; we know if we don’t entertain we’ll reach no one, and if we lecture we’ll fall flat on our faces. This is why we have developed a strong balance of entertainment including a happy hour guide, restaurant review, college-friendly cooking guide, an advice column (with a twist), music coverage, event coverage and much, much more. Our staff of writers, both undergraduate and graduate students, knows how to speak to their audience.

About us

OUR TEAmThe Brick Road team is built upon years and years of collective experience and insight in the world of publication and entertainment. We come from all over the world with wide and varied experiences, each bringing uniqueness and creativity to our publication. Consisting primarily of graduates and students of SDSU, we are deeply connected to and passionate about the university community. We are passionate about arts, culture, community, entertainment, poignant and penetrating journalism, and, most importantly, social involvement and activism.

Brick Road is an interactive publication. By offering content that calls for reader submissions, our audience is driven to our website to submit questions, comments, and photos, then come back to future issues for the chance to see themselves in print. Social media and networking keeps us relevant between issues, and unique online-only content keeps readers involved. Creating contests and giveaways also keeps our audience engaged and interested.

ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITIES WHY US?The economy has been facing tumultuous times. Business is slow all over and companies now have to ensure they are spending advertising dollars wisely. Advertising with Brick Road Magazine is a WISE CHOICE. We do not attempt to fill every crack and crevice with an ad in order to generate maximum revenue. Advertising space IS LIMITED because we advertise tactfully, use primarily full page ads, and creatively advertise within content.

Contrary to a billboard ad or an advertisement in a daily mass-circulation publication, you are making an investment in a TARGET AUDIENCE with MONEY TO SPEND!

The college demographic is almost exclusively 18-24 years old. General marketing techniques could not allow for such tailored advertising. Further, research suggests this is a key age range for developing BRAND LOYALTY. The best business is repeat business!

How do we know college students have money? Simple; They’re in college! According to the National Center for Educational Statistics, more than 18 million US college and university students spend well over $200 BILLION each year. That’s $11,000 per student!

Brick Road Magazine will print 10,000 copies each month in its first year. These magazines will be FREE to students and will be distributed by hand on campus as well as strategically placed in offices, dorms and common areas. This is the time to advertise with the Brick Road!
