The library holds 65873 volumes of print documents and subscribed 630 titles of current journals (print 128, online 502). The UGC-Infonet Consortia of INFLIBNET Center is providing access facility to 9081 (including 525 on perpetual basis) e-journals and twelve databases. Central Library also gets online access of 926 e-journals through DelCon Consortium. The library also holds more than 1800 CDs scattering to different thought contents. Library users can access book database, theses database, journal database, e-journals and other e-resources from any terminal within the University campus round the clock. However, following specific services are generated on demand to meet the specific needs of patrons in the category of faculties and those involved with specific research projects running under them. Such services include:

i) Compilation of Bibliographiesii) Article alert service against specific titles of print journal iii) Selective Dissemination of Information Service.

Computer Centre

The Computer Centre which was established in 1997 had a massive leap in terms of infrastructure and services. It started operations with a mere 20 Desktop Computers Clusters connected to internet with 9600bps VSAT Link. University Community need to move physically to avail various services of the Computer Centre. Now, the picture has changed enormously where every bit of information is available at their finger tip.

Presently, there are two units of Computer Labs under Computer Centre, one with 60 Desktop Computers and other with 68 Desktop Computers which are exclusively dedicated for all the members of the university community. Various Practical Course works are being carried out by different departments that don’t have large computer labs of their own. Also, there are a few courses which require common labs; therefore, Computer Centre is suitable for such courses.

The Centre has built-up its own state-of-the-art Campus LAN using Optical Fiber Backbone covering almost the whole Campus. There are approximately 1000 official desktops and more than 2500 personal desktops pertaining to Students and Staffs that are connected to the campus LAN. There are approximately 4500 wired Gigabit ports extended to Labs, Class Rooms, Faculty Rooms, Research Scholar’s Rooms, Office Rooms, and Central Facilities. The whole network is fully managed by the Computer Centre staff comprising of one Engineer, three Junior Programmers, one Senior Technical Assistant and four Technical Assistants.

Computer Centre has extended LAN connectivity to hostels and residential establishments with Wi-Fi Technology. Now, users can avail network services at their personal gadgets like Tablets, Mobile Phones, iPads, etc. Recently, two new hostels –Pobitora Madam Curie Women’s Hostel and CV Raman Men’s Hostel are provided with Wi-Fi facility.

Centre has supported implementation of Campus-wide IP based CCTV Surveillance System with 23 Cameras in Feb 2014 onwards and its servers are housed at the Computer Centre.

The Proposed Microsoft Innovation Center (MIC) at Tezpur University was formally inaugurated in September 2013. A good number of numbers of Students have already started App development Projects. Computer Centre earmarked two rooms with Desktop Computers – one Training Room with 12 Desktops and one Project Lab with 12 Labs. Various programmes and activities are carried out from time to time in large halls as well as online mode. The Computer Centre has renewed the Microsoft Campus Agreement for software licensing for the year 2014.

Moreover, the part-time (evening) short-term computer courses (DOEACC ‘O’, and ‘A’ level) are being run under the banner of Computer Centre and with the support of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the University.

The National Knowledge Network (NKN) 1Gbps connectivity is being distributed through the Computer Centre.. It also has a backup 2Mbps commercial link via Educational and Research NETwork (ERNET).

Health Centre

The health care services to the students, faculty members and staff and their families are being provided through the Health Centre of the University, which is located in the southeast corner of the campus close to Kendriya Vidyalaya .The shifting to the new building with required modern facilities took place in the month of Sept 2010. As of now we have over 3500 beneficiaries, which include people working at our construction sites.

Services /Facilities available: We offer OPD services but ten indoor beds are also available for initial care of indoor cases including emergency cases.

One Medical Officer is always available for 24hrs on emergency duty. The cases requiring hospitalisation are referred to the referral Hospitals at Tezpur. Ambulance service is available round the clock and is provided free of cost.

A stock of common medicines including life saving drugs are maintained and are supplied free of cost. Routine laboratory investigations are also done free of cost. One Autoanalyser (fully automatic) and one Hormone Analyser( Mini-Vidas) are installed which has widened the facilities for required investigations. Ultrsound scanning and ECG and X-ray facilities are also made available at the Health Centre for the benefit of the University community. We also keep a set of appliances for person with disability.

Visit by Specialists:The University has engaged Specialists of different disciplines (Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology) who visit the Health Centre on different days of the week on regular basis for the benefit of the University community. Psychiatrist from LGBRIMH is also visiting the University regularly for offering counselling on stress related problems.

The Medical Officers pay periodic visits to the hostels and canteen to assess the prevailing hygiene of the dining hall, water supply and the surroundings to prevent the outbreak of waterborne diseases amongst the boarders.b. Annual Health Checkup programme for the employees is done regularly.c. Fogging in the campus was done to prevent outbreak of Dengue.d. Pulse Polio Immunisation camps were organized in the campus as per directive of the Govt.e. Bone mineral density test for elderly ladies was done in the month of Sept’13.f. Blood donation camp was organized in the month of May’ 2013.g. Health checkup of students of Takshyashilla Vidyapith and KV ,Central University, Tezpur.

Future Plans:- Upgradation to 30 bedded indoor facilities which may be achieved in a phased manner.- CT scan and MRI facilities in collaboration with the Medical College, Tezpur.- OPD facilities for outsiders.- Regular vaccination programme for children.

Sports

The Sports Section of the Tezpur University was established in the year 1995 – 1996 with limited infrastructure and other sports facilities. The sports complex along with a Gymnasium came out in the year 1998. First annual meet of the University was held in the year 1997 with 25 Sports & Cultural events. University authority decided to invite one outstanding sports personality to the annual meet every year. Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah graced the 1st Annual meet as chief guest and received warm reception from the University. Normally the Annual Meet starts in the month of August and concludes in the month of February next year.

Hostels

The University has 12 Hostels (7 for Girls and 5 for Boys) which provides Boarding facility to all the 3300 (approx.) students currently on the roll. Besides a married Scholars Hostel (with 36 capacity) also caters to boarding requirements.

Guest House

The state-of-the-art Guest House of the University was commissioned in May 2009. Seated on a two acre green campus, the University Guest House has 45 tastefully furnished rooms, a 30-seater Conference Room, a 40-seater Dining Hall (all air-conditioned), lounges, perfectly matching upholsteries and a catering that carefully prepares and serves vegetarian, non-vegetarian and continental cuisines. It also facilitates 24-hour accessibility to the internet. Also, there is an annex of Guest House with 18 well-furnished rooms and a 24 seater VIP dining hall. This Guest House is within the reach of ATM, Post office, Banks, etc.

Besides, a VVIP Guest House named Niribili is there inside the Vice Chancellor’s Residential complex.

Housing

The University has Assam Type and RCC houses for accommodation of the employees.

Canteen

The University has three canteens and one shopping complex in the campus. There are many snack-centres at different locations within the campus.

Welfare Schemes

Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC):This cell functions as a Training & Development Cell and strives at

customizing activities to meet the specific needs of the students of the North Eastern

Region. A significant aspect of the Equal Opportunity Cell is that it is expected to render its services towards the development of the society at large by focusing on the development of the student community.

SC/ST CellTezpur University being a Central University strictly adheres to the guidelines

of the Government of India as communicated by the MHRD and the UGC with respect to the uplift of the students and employees belonging to the SC/ST categories. The day-to-day functioning of the SC/ST Cell is looked after by an Assistant Registrar. The Cell is also guided by an Advisory Committee.

Grievance Redressal Cell:The university has a Grievance Redressal Cell to redress the grievances of the

students and employees of the university. There is an online Grievance Registration System which promptly takes care of various grievances and transfer to appropriate authority to take necessary action at the earliest possible.

Any other support services

Training and Placement:The Training and Placement Cell of the University is the nodal agency in

arranging summer and final placement of the students of the University. Many reputed organizations are taking active interest on our students in offering placements.
