NATIONAL YOUNG LEADERS’ DAY

On the 28th of March, over 7000 young leaders from all over Australia went to the National Young Leader’s day that supports the Halogen foundation. The 6 Prefects, Mrs Tomlinson and Mr Anderson had so much fun joining in with all the activi-ties and listening to all of the speakers. There were 5 speakers, Army soldier Mike Martin, Fire Brigade Commissioner Greg Mullins, wheelchair Gold medallist Kurt Fearnley, sailor Jessica Watson and last but not least, Talia Fowler who won 2009’s “So You Think You Can Dance”. They were all so inspiring to us with their stories about leadership. The Prefects were also excited about seeing the dance group Capree, and some short movie clips. But the most important thing we learnt was that being a leader doesn’t mean you win something and gain leadership. You have to be respected and admired by those you are leading. By the Prefects (Jasmine, Tamara, Skye, Brock, Dylan and Marko).

2011 VOLUNTARY SCHOOL CONTRIBUTION What is A Voluntary School Contribution? Schools request a contribution from parents each year to supplement existing funding. Our school relies on these contributions to provide additional school library resources for our students. How Much? The suggested contribution is $30 per child or $60 per family. Please note that this is much less than many schools and equates to less than $1 per child per school week. IMPORTANT: This contribution is TAX DEDUCTIBLE. What Will The Money Be Used For? Our 2009-2011 School Plan has the main priority programs for this year as: Literacy: The school library requires new resources to ensure that it offers students a variety of stimulating and engaging books. Technology: The school library would like to purchase new software that teachers can use with their students to improve technol-

ogy programs, resources and computer skills across all areas of learning K-6 We are aiming to raise $4,000 from voluntary contributions this year. If every family contributed $30 we would raise $5,000.

Please note that all contributions – no matter how large or small – are gratefully received!

Prize Draw: As an incentive, any family that makes a contribution by Friday 20th May will be eligible to go in the draw for the following prizes:

Myer/Coles-$50 Gift Card

K-Mart- $50 Gift Card

Rebel Sport-$50 $50 Gift Card

Piranha Dart vacuum cleaner Stainless steel vacuum bottle ADDITIONALLY: The P&C will fund a $1 voucher redeemable from the school canteen for each child from every family who is able to contribute at least $30. The incentive draw will take place at the morning assembly on Friday 20th May 2011. The first 5 families drawn can choose their prize. How to Pay Please place your contribution with the slip below in the school envelope provided and return it to the school office as soon as you are able. If you prefer, you may choose to pay a contribution in installments. A receipt will be issued for all monies received.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our school. John Anderson Mark Deuxberry
