What's New in BrightAuthor Software v2.3

Device Support BrightSign TD1012 – When creating a new BrightAuthor project, you can now select the BrightSign

TD1012 Portable Tabletop Display and choose from built-in portrait layouts.

BP900, BP200 – Easily add USB Button Pads (4 or 11 buttons) to your Interactive Presentations.

Media Objects In the Media Library section, under the Other tab, select from the following Media Objects for your interactive

playlists.

Media Lists – Using an interactive playlist, your next state can now be one out of a group of files. The three

types of lists are; Image, Video and Audio.

o Play one file from the list before returning to a previous state

o Each time play the next file in order or shuffled

o Jump from one file in media list to another using button input

Interactive Menu – easily create DVD style menus for interactive projects

Live Text – create one or more text fields over a background image; edit directly with BrightAuthor

Network Features Local Networking – You can now setup a BrightSign on your local network so that’s visible within

BrightAuthor. Under Publish -> Local Network, you can choose from a list of BrightSigns on your local

network, and publish (push) content directly to them. BrightAuthor automatically sees any units that are

setup for local networking, or you can add a unit using its IP address. Requires the installation of Apple’s

Bonjour protocol (Bonjour for Windows) for discovery.

Wired and Wireless Bandwidth Throttling – Under Tools ->Setup A Unit, or when you publish updates,

you can set or restrict the download speed of a BrightSign using a Wired or Wireless connection.

Simple Networking – You can now do the following with Simple Networking

o Change connection Frequency when publishing updates

o Check for updates in as little as 30 seconds

o Set or Change restrictions on download speeds

Diagnostic Web Server – Under Tools->Setup A Unit, you can now enable or disable the Diagnostic Web

Server included in firmware 3.7.44 or later.

Interactive Playlist Features BP900, BP200 – Turn on and off different led lights; set led lights to slow, medium, or fast blink

New Advanced Commands

o Audio Mute– enable or disable Analog, Digital, or HDMI audio

o BrightControl – send CEC commands over HDMI including on and off

BrightControl Display On/Off – turns display on/off

Additional New Features Audio Zone – Easily add background audio that can play independently

User Interface Preferences – set default behavior for different settings including

o Show/Hide File overwrite dialog

o Copy and Replace duplicate files during publishing

New Presentation Properties - configure the following options

o Serial

Toggle Between Binary & ASCII mode

Set EOL character CR, LF, LF+CR

o Audio – new default audio minimum and max values

o Media List – default timeout period for new Audio, Image, and Video lists

o Image Cache – select images to preload for faster response

New Layout & Menus BrightAuthor 2.3 has interface updates including new menu items, settings, tabs, status screens, etc.

Edit - Preferences Menu Preferences menu has a streamlined list of configuration options, making it easier to change settings

New UI tab – Enable or Disable default settings

Local Networking – under Networking tab, you can enable/disable the three network update options

Edit Playlist – Media Library New Media Objects: Media Lists, Live Text, & Interactive Menu
