Why BYOT?

• 21st Century Skills• Supplement school supplied devices.• Provide students the opportunity to use

tools they are already familiar with.• Supplement, improve and better

differentiate instruction.

What BYOT is NOT

• BYOT is not a requirement.• No student will be left out for not bringing

a device.

BYOT Requirements

• Be a current 3rd, 4th or 5th grade student.• Return a signed Acceptable Use Policy• Successfully complete the Digital Passport

Program.• Register your device on the Goodridge Device

Registration Page.• Agree to the BYOT Guidelines.• Have permission from your classroom teacher to

bring and use the device.

BYOT Guideline Highlights

• Students assume all risk of theft or damage of BYOT devices will on school property. It is their responsibility to use and protect their devices.

• While on BCS property students are expected to connect to the BCS Wireless network. They are not to use their own wi-fi hotspots, 3G or 4G connectivity.

• Connecting to the BCS Wireless network ensure that all internet traffic is filtered as if a student is using a school owned device.

• While on the BCS wireless network students will only have access to the internet. There will be no access to student network drives, printers, or any other part of the network.

BYOT Guideline Highlights Continued

• Devices must be used for educational purposes only. Students will not be permitted to play games, text, access social networks, etc. while at school.

• Devices may not be used to record, transmit and otherwise post images/sound/video of persons during school unless directed by teachers.

• Protective cases are strongly encouraged.• Any inappropriate behavior will result in loss of the

ability to use or bring the device to school and or the loss or reduction of use of technology resources at school.
