See also Morning Chronicle, 25.9.38 for John’s founding a servants’ asylum. ~ named for Rev.William MARSH of Birmingham, JM’s friend and executor. A Mary Marsh MORTLOCK identified to this lady is recorded in IGI +5.4.1940[!] bur.Hove churchyard, Sussex. Note, in turn, Leonard Swaine Mortlock MARSH MInstCE [Times, 29.1.1910] b.10.9.1857Tuxford, =6.5.86Netley Marsh, Isabel Lucy OTTER ^ Louisa Woodd MORTLOCK was a precocious and saintly child who was three years a-dying of fever following measles in 1817. There is a short biography of her in the British Library. @ this marriage is also recorded as taking pace in Agrogna, Turin, to Caesar Jean Solomon MALAN. Solomon Caesar Malan was in court seeking the transfer to him of Bank of England stock in the name of his late wife and her father in 1860 [Times, 20.11.60]. He was a noted orientalist; his sketch books were featured in Connoisseur October 1968.
