• Meeting  the  NFPA  Standards  is  a  serious  challenge

• Many  parts  of  the  Standards  are  unrealistic  or  inappropriate  for  any  given  area

No  formal  enforcement,  but  liability  and  legal  repercussions  apply  if  situations  arise

AHJ  researches  most  appropriate  Service  Level  for  their  community

AHJ  formally  establishes  Service  Level  in  Bylaw  or  Policy  document

Fire  Service  administers  training  programs  to  meet  the  required  competencies  of  the  chosen  Service  Level

• AHJ  had  to  establish  service  level  via  policy  or  bylaw  by  June  30,  2016

• AHJ  has  clear  ownership  of  liability  and  risk,  as  well  as  operations

• Fire  Service  does  not  set  service  levels;  Elected  Officials  do  with  consultation  from  fire
