TRANSCRIPT

Dear Sir and Madam, It is my pleasure to invite you to the 28th edition of the FORUM HORIZON CHIMIE, which will take place on Thursday the 6th of January 2013 in the prestigious “Maison de la Chimie” (Chemistry House) in Paris.

This annual Forum, meant to assemble companies, young engineers and researchers, has been

organized for 28 years by students from four of the best French engineering schools: - The E.N.S.I.C. (Chemical Industry Engineering school of Nancy), - The E.S.P.C.I. ParisTech (Chemical and Physics Industry Engineering School of Paris), - The E.C.P.M. (European Engineering school of Chemistry, Polymers and Materials Science of

Strasbourg), - The E.N.S.C.P. Chimie ParisTech (Chemistry Engineering school of Paris).

Resolutely oriented toward the Chemistry field in a European and international context, the FORUM HORIZON

CHIMIE offers the opportunity to discover companies specialized in physic chemistry, physics, pharmaceutics, but also in energy, consulting and food processing. It is the perfect place for students and graduates who look for internships, jobs or just information, as well as an opportunity for companies to promote their activities and values amongst possible future employees.

In addition to an exhibitor stand allowing close contact between your company and future engineers, you will also have access to the following services and activities:

- L’Espace conseil (consulting area) which conducts simulated job interviews, conferences, round-table

conferences and companies’ presentations. - Une Journée en Entreprise (One day in a company) that will organize a meeting on the company’s

plant for selected students (visit of facilities, laboratories, recruitment days…). - The “Horizon Chimie” Dinner in which your company will have the opportunity to interact with

current students and graduates of the four schools in a friendly environment.

I will be sincerely delighted to have you in this important event in the world of chemistry. I am, as well as the rest of the team, available if you need any further information.

Yours faithfully,

Pour le Forum, President of the forum Fanny LANDRIN

The “Forum Horizon Chimie” is first and foremost:

• A special contact between future executives or engineers and the companies (thanks to the stands, and of course thanks to a lot of different activities such as conferences, discussion meetings, visits of industries or even the “Horizon Chimie” Dinner). • Mainly based on chemistry but also open to other fields such as physics, pharmacy, energy, information technology, food processing, and consulting. • The greatest job fair of its category, due to its number of visitors and exhibitors.

The Forum Horizon Chimie in a few figures... • It takes place on February 6th 2014 in the “Maison de la Chimie” in Paris.

• It is organized by four of the greatest French engineering schools: the ENSIC, the ESPCI, the ECPM and Chimie ParisTech. • It has attracted more than 1400 visitors, engineering and college students last year. • The visitors have come to discover 42 companies and 10 schools, to apply for an

internship and a job or for an additional training.

Encouraged by the satisfaction of the previous exhibitors,

especially regarding the high quality of the established

relationships between students and companies, the

organizing board is entirely at your disposal to provide

you with any extra information you may need, and to

encourage you to participate in the success of this new

edition.

Created in 1887, the ENSIC is one of the rare schools to form high level

engineers having an education in both Chemistry and process engineering.

This multidisciplinary strategy combined with an active international opening strategy allows

graduates to be present in every important industrial sector. Thanks to an active collaboration with about

60 companies, the ENSIC form very sought after engineers in various domains such as Chemistry,

Pharmacology, Engineering, Energy, Metallurgy, Nuclear power…

The students will benefit from the importance given to scientific and technical applications thanks to

associations with 5 world-renowned research laboratories with common objectives: materials and

products conception and sustainable process development. Students also have the choice to study

abroad in a partner university.

Moreover the ENSIC promotes interactions with the biology sector: pharmacology students have

access to the Pharma Plus education at school and ENSIC students are allowed to continue in

pharmacology or medical studies.

In a world where research and innovation are essential drivers for companies the Chemical and Physics Industry Engineering School of Paris (ESPCI ParisTech in French) which was founded in 1882 follows the path traced by Pierre and Marie Curie, Paul Langevin, Georges Charpak and Pierre-Gilles de Gennes forming polyvalent research and innovation engineers in physics, chemistry, biology and even in the sphere of management and finance.

Its students are mainly recruited on X-ESPCI contest; but seven other recruitment modes (MP, PC-

Bio, university education, foreign course of study…) give a rewarding diversity. Social diversity is not

neglected either since 38% of our current students are grant holders.

Teaching by research and experience starts during the three first years of the four years cycle not

only by practical studies but also by laboratory projects and by the six month industrial internship in

France or abroad (about 60% per year). During the fourth year, a big step to professional world, more

and more double diplomas or double competences can be taken. Students can choose between a Two-

year Research Master’s in France or abroad, a specialized Master’s or a specialized school. And for

even more excellence, 60% of the students continue with a Ph.D.

The ECPM is intended to train, in 3 years, trilingual chemist engineers, around 3

main subjects: “Energy, Health and Environment”; based on competences in

molecular chemistry, analytic sciences, nanomaterials and polymers, and this in

an international economic and industrial context. The education at the ECPM is

characterised by: its trilingualism (scientific classes in French, English and

German; two obligatory language lessons (English and German or Spanish); internships abroad), its practical

education (about 40% of practicals), an education principally orientated towards research and development areas

(R&D), its policy of internships and projects (one obligatory internship abroad, one final year project, one

innovation project...).

Next to its scientific specificities (chemistry, polymers and materials), the school can confirm its European

orientation by an international recruitment and a teaching by foreigners professors. The human education and

social lessons, the industrial interventions, the internships, the micropojects and projects allow our students to

achieve a well define knowledge of the European industrial area. The ECPM also allows them to be in a direct

touch with a high level and prestigious research due to the presence of a chemistry research federation,

laboratories, and well known institutes on the campus.

After graduating, the engineers have the necessary culture of the industrial world and of the research area to

become capable managerial staff and to hold positions with a high level of responsibility in the industry. The

chemist engineers from the ECPM have a polyvalent education to adapt themselves to the line of business in a

world of knowledge and innovation.

Chimie ParisTech (Chemistry Engineering school of Paris), founded in 1896 by Charles

Friedel, trains chemical engineers with a strong scientific background, but also with

managerial skills and a first experience in industry. They are able to take an international

position: every graduated student speak fluent English and often a third language, most of

them have done an internship abroad or an academic exchange.

We defend:

- A high quality of theoretical teaching with a strong experimental practice,

- Development of human skills as much as technical skills

- Open-mindedness through the social and cultural diversity of our students

- Social, environmental and economic responsibility.

Through a core curriculum of two years, the ENSCP-Chimie ParisTech students strengthen their scientific

knowledge, before choosing, in their third year, between engineering and research. The year-round project-based

approach takes all its importance in 3rd year, thanks to a final year project in a chosen R&D field (molecular

chemistry, science and materials engineering, chemical industry process, nuclear chemistry, renewable energy,

natural chemistry or cosmetics, analytical chemistry).

Conferences and Presentations have several purposes .They are an

opportunity to present not only your society but also the careers, a research theme

or any theme related to the industrial and scientific community. They will enable you

to be present even if your company has no stand during the job fair. It is about fifty

minutes long, in the language of your choice. The FHC will provide you with an

equipped room: screen, overhead projector, computer equipment.

It allows you to have a link on the job fair web site. These lectures are a good

way of promoting your company, and broaden visitors' horizons. Moreover it

contributes to the dynamism of the job fair.

Last year all these companies gave a conference: SEPPIC, CEA, Dow

Corning, LʼOréal, BASF, Arkema, Bosch, ChemSud, EDF, Roquette, ANRT Cifre,

AGC.

One day in a company, “Un Jour en Entreprise” in French, is an opportunity:

- For you to make students whose profile matches to your requirements discover

your company.

- For the students to discover aspects of their future job.

Last year this activity has been appreciated by visitors thanks to the

participation of BASF, CEA, Schlumberger, Chimex, St-Gobain, Coventya.

To take part in this operation, you are invited to pass on to us the names,

phone numbers and email addresses of the engineers who could welcome the

interested visitors of the FHC. Candidates will leave us their CV and will fill in a

motivation questionnaire during the job fair. Then, they will be selected, either by

you or by our team, according to your demands.

This stand’s purpose is to create a privileged contact between future

graduates, recruitment professionals and industrials.

This pole is based on four activities:

- Resume correction stands,

- Interview simulations (S.E.E. in French),

-Round-tables conferences: students and professionals from diverse

backgrounds (recruitment specialists, industrialists) are meeting to speak

about various themes concerning employment and the business world,

- Graphology: professionals analyze handwriting in details to identify some

points of the student’s personality.

For more friendly exchanges you are invited to share a prestigious dinner

with future graduates of the organizing schools. This dinner will take place at the

end of the forum, the night of February 6th in a prestigious place of Paris, “la

Maison des Polytechniciens”. You already are offered two invitations. We will

contact you in December to send invitations to the interested people.

Each year, the Forum receives many English speaking companies beside

French ones. Today, with the increasing of globalisation, it is recommended that we

receive also German speaking country, such as Germany who is a world leader in

chemistry, but also to Switzerland and Austria. We are currently in touch with

German companies, this allows us to increase the possibilities of internships and

job offers and give the job fair an European dimension.

The Communication Team has two main goals: promoting the forum in

organizing schools and increasing students of universities and other chemistry

schools awareness of the interest of an event like the Forum Horizon Chimie.

Our aim is to open the job fair to a larger public to bring a bigger diversity in

visitors and so more various profiles.
