OPENING

PEOPLE. IDEAS. VISIONS.

Since the beginning of time, people have been seeking for the “opening”. Even since the times of the cracks and prehistoric walls, the small windows of Middle Ages and until the times of houses with walls of windows, people have been trying to feel protected, but at the same time to be in a permanent contact with the environment. So this is how it all began... with the desire of the “opening”.

The window is a solution and a dynamic link between the house and the external environment, it can protect or interact with the nature. The complexity of a window and the multiple characteristics within it makes each project unique.

Aplast windows bring added value to any building and by their energy efficiency the investment is payed off in time.

These are the necessary ingredients to create something outstanding. These are the elements which transformed Aplast in one of the leading manufacturers of windows and doors with thermal-insulating systems in Romania.

We are part of a well established european family. We are constantly investing in new technologies research so we can bring to the market the most innovative solutions.

Imagine colors and space in all possible shapes. Imagine functionality in a lasting and easy to maintain window. Imagine a window that can rather open the world more than close it.

These are the Aplast windows, windows that make the impossible possible.

LIGHT

First of all, we must talk about light. Light is the origin of life and everything was generated by it. Light is energy, vitality, colour and therefore it plays an essential role in the design and the layout of a window.Try to create in your home your own type of "opening” that could offer as much natural light as possible.

You can start by ensuring a proper illumination of the living room or dinning room, since these are the areas where we spend most of our time. Then, you can see about your children's rooms.

Natural light plays an important role in their psycho-motor development from the first moments of their life to their first homework and readings.

Page 4: Brosura Aplast

If possible, try to design your house in such a way that most of the time could be spent near a window.

Lighting from two directions (windows on two walls), minimize the appearance of shadows and can offer extra brightness inside the house throughout the day.

Natural light penetrates easily through very high windows which are placed as close as possible to the top of the wall. Consequently, the need of artificial light is reduced.

Another important aspect is the positioning of the windows on the wall of the building. When they are properly positioned in the interior, the windows are protected from bad weather and at the same time, the facade of the building will have interesting effects (shadow effects).

As for the offices, they should also be properly lighted. Create effective "openings" and place offices in such a way that light will not hinder your work.

Wet rooms must be provided with a window that can ensure proper ventilation (thus eliminating the appearance of condensation).

Think of your house as a journey! If you want to have a good start, you must head towards the right direction. This is the point where you have to take into consideration the orientation, the four cardinal points and the four seasons, since they influence the construction of each window.

Windows facing south receive a maximum of natural light during winter but in the summer time it is recommended to protect these windows with overhangs or shutters (because the angle of incidence of the sunlight is greater in the summer time).

Windows facing north do not receive direct sunlight. The type of rooms which have windows to the north may become reading rooms or workshops due to the constant quality of the light throughout the day, in every season.

Windows facing east and west receive maximum light in the summer time (from east in the morning and from west in the afternoon). A special attention must be paid to the ones facing west because in the summer time, during the period when they are exposed to direct sunlight, outdoor temperatures are very high. The glass with solar control properties and the shutters are recommended for this type of windows. The shutters mounted on the outside provide maximum protection.

WINDOWSWINDOWSAplast windows are tailored to fulfill the highest degree of demand. The qualities comprised in a window depend on the destination and role that it needs to fulfill. We will explore in more detail the elements that comprise a window and the way in which these can be combined to create a product that would meet the needs of every consumer.

Aplast windows offer a high level of thermal protection. By using the Aplast windows one can reduce the energy consumption in a home by up to 30%.

Aplast windows use an advanced glass technology that will reduce the greenhouse effect. In homes that have an east, south or west facade, the solar insulation panes of glass will help minimize the use of air conditioning systems, thus reducing the electricity costs overall. Save over 50% of the costs needed to air-condition your home!

Aplast windows also offer a high degree of phonic insulation. For houses located close to noise sources, we recommend the use of a special type of heat insulated windows that offer an extra level of phonic insulation.

Aplast windows can benefit from a special trickle vent that is mounted on the top part of the heat insulated window frame. This system allows an unrestricted air flow ensuring at the same time the highest level of security and also allows the adjustment of the air flow. In this way, the heat loss through ventilation is minimized and the draught avoided.

Aplast windows with more than 70mm main frame thickness that have a tilt and turn opening, benefit from a micro-ventilation system. The positioning of the handle at a 45 degree angle from the tilt and turn opening allows the flow of air to circulate, therefore ensuring a permanent ventilation of the room in conditions of maximum safety.

Aplast windows have multi-point locking system (2 to 5 locking points), depending on their dimension. For windows and doors of greater dimensions, there can be up to 12 locking points, hence increasing the air tightness and the level of security. Aplast windows handles are provided with a special antitheft system that forbids the maneuvering of the window from outside.

Aplast window benefit from an extended 5 years warranty.

WINDOWSWINDOWS

Elegance and gracefulness

Slim windows have a fine simple design. The profiles that are used for their frame are meant to be very subtle. Due to this fact, a larger surface of the window is made of glass and therefore natural light can penetratre into the room much more easily compared to the other types of windows.

A better lighting is ensured all day long and the need of artificial lighting is reduced. Meanwhile, the level of thermal insulation is much higher. The rounded surface of the frame creates a fascinating impression of delicacy.

Slim windows can be used for any type of residential building.

Compensation profiles

When we deal with gaps of different sizes formed between the windows and the walls we can use compensation profiles that facilitate the installation of windows along uneven surfaces and at the same time offer a pleasant design. Compensation p ro f i l e s a re ava i l ab le in dimensions between 20 mm and 100 mm.

Design and safety

Aplast window handles have a special protection system to prevent opening from outside the house. When the handle is moved in different positions, it activates a locking mechanism, which does not allow external handle operation.

3 directions adjustable hinge

Profile change of angle (90 degrees)

For windows that are mounted on two sides (e.g. balconies) we use a profile changing the angle (90 degrees) which ensures tightness and resistance in time.

Stiffness profile

The combination of two or more large panels is done by using stiffness profiles which ensure stability and resistance in time. These elements of resistance offer extra safety and ensure protection against house breaking.

2. Silica gel

3. Glazing bead

4. Steel reinforcement

5. Pvc profile

6. Gasket

Profile change of variable angle

If windows are mounted on an atypical facade (for example, having the shape of a semicircle), we use profiles change of variable angle.

OPENINGSOPENINGS

Casement windows

These are the most common type of windows.

They combine the functionality with security by allowing you to ventilate the air in complete safety. Tilt and turn system from Aplast benefits from a micro-ventilation system. The position of the handle at a 45 degree angle from the tilt and turn opening ensures air circulation, therefore offering a permanent ventilation of the room in conditions of maximum safety.

FoldingTilt and turn windows windows Sash windows

This type of opening is recommended for the doors and the windows mounted indoor. The contact between the sash and the casement is made by brushes, which reduces the phonic and thermal insulation.

Oscillo sliding windows

This type of opening is used both for windows and doors mounted outdoor. It gives you the possibility to save space when opening the window and ventilate the room in complete safety.

ACCESSORIESACCESSORIESWINDOW SILLS

When windows are replaced, it is recommended to mount the interior or exterior window sills. Exterior sills are meant to prevent possible infiltrations from arising due to the contact between the window and the wall.Interior and exterior sills eliminate the need of capital repairs which may appear after the installation of the window and confer an aesthetic and pleasant aspect. A particular profile (called solbanc) is used for mounting the window sills. This one insures reliability, tightness and a correct position of the sill.

WINDOW SHUTTER

The shutters offer a high thermal and heat insulation and also give the possibility of shading the room. Optionally, the shutters can be equipped with insect nets.

Superposed shutters are mounted at the same time with the window, at the top of the frame.

Applied shutters can also be mounted after changing the windows.

Shutters are available in a wide range of colours, both painted and wood imitation.

GLASS AND SOLAR RADIATION

GREENHOUSE EFFECT

Solar energy that gets into a room through a window is absorbed by objects and the interior walls. By heating, they are releasing thermal radiation. The Low-E glass keeps this thermal energy inside the house and facilitates the development of the greenhouse effect. For example, the greenhouse effect can be observed in a car which is stationary in the sunlight with closed windows.

SOLAR PROTECTION

To avoid heating effects due to the greenhouse effect we can:1. ensure air flow;2. use shutters for shading;3. use windows with low energy transmission - "solar control glass”.

Page 18: Brosura Aplast

Page 19: Brosura Aplast

3736

Aplast puts forward a revolutionary product which has the ability of severely reducing the expenses: Dual Protect glass.Up to now, the main utility of the windows was to protect against the cold weather and to reduce the expenses during winter time.Along with the usage of Dual Protect glass, the window became a mean of reducing the expenses during summer time.

Dual Protect ensures:- Thermal insulation during winter and reduces the heating expenses;- Heat insulation during summer and reduces the ventilation expenses, air conditioning being less used.

With this type of glass the elimination of greenhouse effect takes place without diminishing the natural light. You do not need to use shading systems to remove heat from the building. You can now enjoy natural light during summer and meanwhile, avoid overheating of the rooms exposed to solar rays by using windows with Dual Protect glass.

Dual Protect is a solar control glass. This type of glass is superior to Low-E glass and meets the current needs of the customers affected by global heating.

The new Dual Protect Extreme glass offers the highest level of heat insulation amongst all windows. Due to its remarkable qualities, it can almost cancel the greenhouse effect which appears during summer inside the buildings leading to more efficient climate maintenance in any season. Moreover the energy use is reduced and the optimal comfort is maintained.

Compared to the other types of glass, Dual Protect Extreme glass offers an impressive solar protection, twice better than the Low-E glass and 50% above the one offered by Dual Protect glass

1. CONDUCTION heat transfer between 2 bodies

that are in direct contact.

2. CONVECTION heat transfer between

a solid surface and a fluid, gas or liquid.

3. RADIATION heat transfer which

result from exchange radiation between 2 bodies found

at different temperatures.

Heat transfer through a wall by conduction, convection and radiation is expressed by the "K” coefficient.

GLASS AND THERMAL INSULATION

A window separates two environments that generally have different temperatures. As in the case of a wall, there is a transfer of heat between the hot and cold environment, the window playing the role of a dynamic link. In addition to this, the window allows the penetration of solar rays into the room which generates more free heat.

The thermal transfer through any type of wall takes place due to:

K = 5,8W(m²K)g

Simple glass 4mm(clear)

Thermo insulating glass4mm - 16mm - 4mm

(clear - air - clear)

K = 2,8W(m²K)g

9°C

Thermo insulating glass4mm - 16mm - 4mm

(low-emissivity + argon)

K = 1,1W(m²K)g

The lesser the index value of K, the higher the index of thermal insulation.

Triple glazing glass 40mm(low-e + low-e + clear + argon)

The amount of natural light that penetrates the room depends on the design of the window. If you wish to get as much natural light, create large openings and configure the windows in such a way that they will not represent a hindrance for the natural light.

MOUNTING RECOMMENDATIONSMOUNTING RECOMMENDATIONS

1. Sash2. Casement3. Solbanc4. Exterior sill5. Interior sill6. Wall7. Polystyrene8. Plasterboard

Mounting steps

1. Establishing the place where the joinery will be mounted in the rough opening. It is recommended to mount the joinery in the middle of the rough opening and not in the interior or exterior of it because problems might arise and the window's integrity might be affected.

2. Preparing the joinery for installation. If the window is mobile, the casement will be disassembled. If the window is fixed, the glazing beads will be disassembled.

3. Fixing the sash into the wall. The joinery must be fixed in the rough opening using spacers all around it and measuring it with the level to make sure it is perfectly straight. When the joinery is set in the separators it has to be fixed on the mounting screws. If the mounting holes are already made in the factory, one must drill the holes in the wall. The last stage is fixing the screws or mounting anchors. One must fix the mounting screws in the following order:- top;- sides (down screws);- remaining screws. The mounting screws must be chosen according to the type of the walls. They should penetrate the wall at least 50 mm in concrete, 100 mm in the bricks and 150 mm in BCA.

4. Filling the space between the wall and joinery. The space between the wall and joinery must be insulated against air and humidity. This space is to be filled with polyurethane foam. The foam is designed to thermo insulate, by this it allows joinery to dilate without affecting the frame or the glass.

5. Glass assembly (or panel assembly).Fixed windows:- Apply two or three holds to the bottom of the window. The distance between the frame and the hold should be about 80 mm. - Apply the spacers, usually measuring 5 mm.- The glass is fixed so that the aluminium spacer to be symmetrical left-right, top-bottom.Windows with opening:The casement is mounted on the frame, protection profiles are used in order to protect the window during transportation. The holds are applied in the following order:- Two on the bottom of the window;- One on the upper side, next to the handle;- One on the bottom side, next to the inferior hinge.Another two holds are applied on the top of the casement in order to fix the window. 6. Mounting the glazing beads .Regardless of the type of window, the glazing beads are fixed after assembling the glass, first the small parts and then the large ones.

PVC TERRACESPVC TERRACES

Relazzo is a new pavement system developed by Rehau and available in Aplast stores.

For a long time, wooden pavement was the most widespread product in the construction of terraces. Its elegance is undermined by wood's low resistance in time, which requires frequent maintenance and even complete replacement of the pavement once a few years.

The pavement system developed by Rehau combines without compromises the elegance and the simplicity of a wood pavement with the strength of modern polymers. This qualifies Relazzo into the best solution for outdoor terraces which are exposed to bad weather or to traffic.

71

The Relazzo system can be succesfully used in any conditions of exploitation: for the pavement of your own home terrace or for the pavement of the terraces placed in the commercial buildings with high traffic. The pavement is available in 6 different colours with deep or fine streaks.

Due to its structure the pavement has a high resistance to extreme loading, has a very good adherence, does not require maintenance, does not allow water infiltrations and remains the same after repeated contact with water or sunlight.

This high quality product is also environmentally friendly. Only wood fibers and organic polymers are used in their production process.

CHARACTERISTICS:Ÿ excellent resistance to bad weather and intensive useŸ quick and easy to installŸ very good adherenceŸ no cracking, no splinteringŸ little or no maintenance requiredŸ modern designŸ it does not overheat
