Getting Started
October 1, 2020
The rechartering process of your unit is about to begin. To start the process which is a
secure, easy-to-use application go to the council website, www.overlandtrailscouncil.com
Use google chrome as our internet rechartering process does not work with internet
explorer
Once on our home page go to more on the right-hand side of the page, click resources and
proceed to internet rechartering. The Recharter System will not go live until November
1st. Your charter can be completed and submitted anytime after November 1st.
Here’s how to get started:
1. Select an adult to be the renewal processor for Internet Rechartering.
2. From 60 to 45 days before the unit charter expiration date, the renewal
processor should gather recharter material and log onto the council Web site.
3. Select First-Time User and enter the unit access code. Every year you will
have to sign in as first-time user.
Unit access code : __________________________________
4. Select the unit type and enter the unit number.
5. Create a password as instructed.
6. Complete the information requested on each screen. You can stop at any
time, log off the system, and begin again where you left off by reentering your
access code and password.
Here’s how to wrap it up:
7. When you’ve completed all the information to recharter the unit, click the
Submit button.
8. Print the Unit Charter Renewal Report Package, which includes the charter
renewal application and lists of new members, transfers, multiples, and no-fee
adults. Acquire the appropriate signatures on the application, along with
proof of youth protection training, then take the entire packet along with new
applications and fee payments to the council office or the district turn-in
meeting. Fees can only be put on the unit account if preapproved by the Scout
Executive.
Required Registered Adults:
• IH- Institution Head
• CR- Charter Representative
• CC- Committee Chairman
• CM- Cubmaster or SM-
Scoutmaster
• 2 MC- Committee Members
• 1 Den Leader- for Pack
• The CR is the only registered
adult that can be registered in
more than one position in
same unit. They may also
serve as CC or MC

Chartered Organization’s aims and
values for youth
* The Unit works with the Chartered
Representative to figure out the
schedule that works with both
organizations for use of facility.
Signatures at bottom:
1st Line: Chartered Organization (can
be IH-Institution Head or Charter
Representative)
2nd Line: BSA Local Council (this is
signed by the Council Office)
3rd Line: Signed by CR-Chartered

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
• Please verify each persons Name, address, phone number, email,
birthday, and position while you are working on recharter.
• Also note if the want Boys Life magazine during recharter.
• Please make sure signatures are signed by the correct people.
• Start now to verify all leaders are current on Youth Protection
• If someone is duel registered they only have to pay with one unit,
choose the one they want the most information about
• Packets will be mailed around October 15
• National doesn’t allow you to start working on recharter until
November 1
• Recharters are due to Council by December 15!!

• If you have Wellcare you will need to get a new voucher with your
recharter paperwork.
• If you feel a family needs financial assistance they can call David
Plond at Council office 308-382-3717 to see what assistance is
available.
