Examples of power supply cable features:Features: Two separate solid core wires.

For Europe, Blue wire for -48V, black wire for 0V.

For North America, Blue wire for –48V, red wire for 0V.

Section: 16 mm² or 5 AWG.

Type: H07 RN-F or equivalent.

8.5.3 PCM LINK AND DEDICATED DISTRIBUTION FRAMES

The S8000 Indoor BTS is not intended for connection directly to thetelecommunication network.

For North America, the connection to the T1 line should be made through a listedCSU (Channel Service Unit) or equivalent, which provides secondary protection.

An example of indoor premises with PCM and alarm distribution frames is shown inAppendix 12.

A specific PCM distribution frame should be considered. It should be grounded.

Three types of cable can be used according to the site configuration:

• Twisted pairs 120 Ohms E1 PCM cable.

• Twisted pairs 100 Ohms T1 PCM cable.

• Coaxial 75 Ohms E1 PCM cable.

The maximum distance between the cabinet and the transmission equipment shouldnot exceed the value listed in the following table:

D max.

(m) (in)

E1 120 Ω 150 5906 "

T1 100 Ω 150 5906 "

E1 75 Ω 70 2756 "

Note: In case of E1 75 Ω configuration, an adaptation box 120/75 Ω may be secured as close as possible to the specific distribution frame.

A specific alarm distribution frame should be considered. It must be grounded.

Note: A surge protection must equip each input.

8.6 VENTILATION OR AIR CONDITIONINGThe maximum temperature inside the premises must be + 40 °C with an alarmthreshold at + 45 °C.

The minimum temperature inside the premises must be + 0 °C with an alarmthreshold at - 5 °C.

In case of dusty premises, the ventilation system must be equipped with a filter whichcomplies with [R13] and for which maintenance is periodically performed.

The temperature gradient inside the premises must comply with the recommendationfor operating conditions (refer to [R13]).

The maximal dissipation is about:

• 2160 W - 8 x 30W (PA power) = 1920 W per cabinet,

• 450 W per power cabinet with rectifiers equipment (if required).

8.7 HIGH-VOLTAGE PROTECTORThe external ports of the equipment (power supply, data, antennas, etc.) must beprotected according to the current safety instructions.

8.8 FEEDERSFeeders are used to establish the link between the S8000 cabinets and the antennas.

The feeders are left above the radio cabinet, ready to be connected. A female 7/16connector equips each feeder end.

In case of site with dual band configuration, label the feeders with a specific markingfor each frequency band.

Feeder jumpers (7/16 male-male) with a 1.5 m length, are used to connect the feederto the S8000 Indoor radio cabinets.

8.9 ANTENNASThe customer must foresee and install the antennas and the feeders. The antennas areinstalled in compliance with the radio engineering studies by trained staff.

For S8000 BTS the diversity is mandatory for the reception.

9 FINAL STATE OF SITE PREPARATIONThe site preparation does not include the aerial system installation. The followingoperations have been performed:

• A well-dimensioned cable way is installed and grounded.

• A ground plate is connected to the earth sink.

• The circuit impedance and the continuity are checked and recorded.

• A power supply output is available for each cabinet (breaker off).

• A PCM distribution frame is installed and grounded.

• An alarm distribution frame is installed and grounded.

• The BTS premises are equipped with lighting and service socket.
