5 Reasons Why we should give (2 Corinthians 8-9)

1. To follow the example of Jesus (8:9)

You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ; rich as he was, he made himself poor for your sake, in order to make you rich by means of his poverty (2 Corinthians 8:9).

5 Reasons Why we should give (2 Corinthians 8-9)

1. To follow the example of Jesus (8:9)

2. To help those in need (vs. 14)

Since you have plenty at this time, it is only fair that you should help those who are in need. Then, when you are in need and they have plenty, they will help you

(2 Corinthians 8:14).

5 Reasons Why we should give (2 Corinthians 8-9)

1. To follow the example of Jesus (8:9)

2. To help those in need (vs. 14)

3. To have a large crop (9:6)

Remember that the person who plants few seeds will have a small crop; the one who plants many seeds will have a large crop (2 Corinthians 9:6).

3. To have a large crop (9:6)

4. Because God loves the one who gives gladly (vs. 7)

Each one should give, not with regret or out of a sense of duty, for God loves the one who gives gladly

(2 Corinthians 9:7).

5. Because God supplies for all our needs (vs. 10)

And God, who supplies seed for the sower and bread to eat, will also supply you with all the seed you need and will make it grow and produce a rich harvest from your generosity (2 Corinthians 9:10).

5 Counsels on How we should give (2 Corinthians 8-9)

1. First give yourselve to the Lord (8:5)

It was more than we could have hoped for! First they gave themselves to the Lord; and then, by God’s will they gave themselves to us as well (2 Corinthians 8:5).

5 Counsels on How we should give (2 Corinthians 8-9)

1. First give yourselve to the Lord (8:5)

2. According to what you have (vs. 12)

If you are eager to give, God will accept your gift on the basis of what you have to give, not on what you don’t have (2 Corinthians 8:12).

1. First give yourselve to the Lord (8:5)

2. According to what you have (vs. 12)

3. With generosity (9:5)

Therefore I thought it necessary to exort the brethren to go to you ahead of me, and prepare your generous gift beforehand, which you have previously promised, that it may be ready as a matter of generosity and not as a grudging obligation (2 Corinthians 9:5).

Thank you!

“God blesses the work of men’s hands, that they may return to Him His portion. He gives them the sunshine and the rain; He causes vegetation to flourish; He give health and ability to acquire means. Every blessing comes from His bountiful hand, and He desires men and women to show their gratitude by returning Him a portion in tithes and offerings-in thank offerings, in freewill offerings, in trespass offerings. They are to devote their means to His service, that His vineyard may not remain a barren waste. They are to take all difficult matters to Him in prayer. They are to reveal an unselfish interest in the building up of His work in all parts of the world” (White, Prophets and Kings, p. 707-708).
