Building Global Innovators opens 6 th edition Submissions open from 2 nd March until 24 th May at www.mitportugal-bgi.org Batch of 20 ventures to be announced on 16 th July eTeams I bootcamp scheduled for 27 th – 31 st July Lisbon, 2 March 2015: BGI is a deep innovation global accelerator steaming from the unique collaboration between the University Institute of Lisbon – ISCTE and MIT entities, MIT Portugal, Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation and the Martin Trust Center for Entrepreneurship. From 2 nd March until 24 th May the accelerator accepts submissions via www.mitportugal-bgi.org, from aspiring entrepreneurs, startups and spin-outs that may be located in any country, working on 4 market-application verticals: Medical Devices & Health IT, Smart Cities & Industrial Technologies, Enterprise IT & Smart Data and Ocean Economy. The jury will select a batch of 20 ventures out of the pool of submissions, 5 in each vertical. The batch will be publicly announced on 16 th July. During the acceleration process the 20 ventures will benefit from expert mentoring amounting to over 1.150h. This free of charge in kind support is valued at €1 million. Unlike others BGI supports the alumni network for up to 5 years. In the 5 previous editions BGI received 515 submissions from 37 countries. The accelerator supported 101 ventures that up to date they secured over €27 million in financing.
