(Continued from page 1) trie wiring was burned down, cut- ting off power to the Sanford home and a nearby well, which could have furnished additional water. The day was one of the hottest of the year. Sweating firemen used brooms to keep the flames from spreading into the woods. There was enough moisture in the hemlock needles to thwart IJie spread of the fire up through tlie trees. Firemen spent a few anxious moments as a bottled gas tank flared up after heat had melted the plug. -All Furnishings l« st ■None of the furnishings and equipment in the cabin could be saved. Miss Martin said that she had a considerable amount of clothing, dishes and personal ef- fects stored in the building. She had offered the camp for sale in last week’s News. The cabin and property had an esti- mated value of $2,0(X). Miss Mar- tin said that it would cost about $1,500 to replace the contents, some of which were irreplaceable heirlooms. The only insurance was a $1,500 policy carried on the camp by the previous owner, Ralph Brown. Since the fire, Miss Mar- tin has had several answers to the ad frofn out-of-town folks who were unaware the camp had burned. Cause Undetermined Clause of the Are was imdeter- mined. Mrs. Sanfofd said that the camp had been visited a short ■time before by a couple in a car, but that they had left as she was about to take her shower. Miss Martin speculated that a cigarette dropped in the dry grass had smoldered and burst into flames, spreading to the cabin. She said that the cabin was locked, and she had the only key. Many New Kingston Folks Are lU

New Kingston, July 25.—Miss Ellen Gray returned to the home of Mr. and Mrs. / Cecil Sanford where she is employed. She spent ten days in Margaretville hospital suffering a spinal operation. She is making a good recovery. By a coincidence, Ellen’s fiance, James Anderson, of Delhi was in the same hospital, same time, for an appendicitis operation. He is gaining.

Wayne, eight-year-old son of Mr, and Mrs. Cecil Sanford,'fell on broken glass while at play July 15, cutting his elbow open. He was taken to the office of Dr. Palen, where several stitches closed the wound.

Mrs. Donald Monington spent a few days last week in Margaretville hospital for x-rays

Comelius Sanford was admitted to the hospital July 22 for observation and treatment.

Dennis Sanford returned to his home on Sunday from Margaretville hospital.

(Continued from page 1)trie wiring was burned down, cutting off power to the Sanford home and a nearby well, which could have furnished additional water.

-All Furnishings l« s t ■None of the furnishings and

equipment in the cabin could be saved. Miss Martin said that she had a considerable amount of clothing, dishes and personal effects stored in the building.

She had offered the camp for sale in last week’s News. The cabin and property had an estimated value of $2,0(X). Miss Martin said that it would cost about $1,500 to replace the contents, some of which were irreplaceable heirlooms.

The only insurance was a $1,500 policy carried on the camp by the previous owner, Ralph Brown. Since the fire, Miss Martin has had several answers to the ad frofn out-of-town folks who were unaware the camp had burned.

Cause Undetermined Clause of the Are was imdeter-

mined.
