Nigel Anderson Our New Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries

We are so excited to welcome Nigel Anderson to our church staff as Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries! Nigel is a familiar face around FPC and has been a mission partner with us through his work at Crisis Pregnancy Center for the last several years.

It is a blessing to have Nigel, his wife Tia, and their two year-old daughter Shekinah, as part of our church family. Please surround Nigel with your prayers as he dives into his new role here at First Presbyterian!

The NIV: A New Bible Translation for FPCYou will notice a new Bible in the pews and seats this Sunday. Our congregation is shifting from the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) to the New International Version (NIV). While the NRSV remains an excellent translation, we made this change for two important reasons.

First, the Remember series calls for a significant amount of Scripture memorization, and we want our family of faith

to be able to all memorize the same words. The NIV is the best-selling contemporary translation by far and is the overwhelming Bible of preference for most of our members.

Second, the NIV offers significantly better resources than the NRSV for our family of faith. The NIV has excellent children, teen, and study Bibles, is available on the Glo Bible and biblegateway.com, and offers excellent, inexpensive Bibles that we can give away for free to those wanting a Bible for the first time.

What makes our faith unique amongst all world religions is the insistence that salvation comes not from what we do, but from what has been done for us. The central task of the Christian faith is to remember what Christ did for us, and to live our lives in remembrance of His life, death and resurrection.

Today we begin a new church life series simply called Remember. Throughout the year, we’ll focus on a small number of critical passages of Scripture, passages we will challenge you to memorize as we progress. Join us as together we remember the story of Christ!
